How 99% of Network Marketers Don't Follow the Golden Marketing Rules...

I'm always amazed at what 99% of people do in Network Marketing when they are prospecting.

The best marketers on the planet know that the way to get great customers is to first define a need (a need that is burning or urgent), then create a product to fill that need. It is like the GOLDEN RULE of GREAT marketing.

What most newbie network marketers do is the opposite. They find someone to target, then approach that person about their opportunity without first asking questions and finding out if the person actually needs or wants what they have to offer.

Learn to listen for a need. The only reason I'm good at this is because I'm trained as a family physician. We always ask the patient what their issue is. Occasionally we also make the mistake of addressing a "need" we think the patient should have.

"Gee, Mr. Jones, I see in your chart that your cholesterol is a little high. We need to put you on some medicine"....

"But doctor, I just came in for my knee pain. Can we deal with that?"

So when you are approaching me for the first time, you'll want to ask me what I'm interested in, what my needs are, what would make my life easier. Don't email me a message that says, "Gee I have a great opportunity. I'm not pushing anything, but I value your opinion. Here's the website. xxxxx. Let me know what you think!"

These emails are not "bad" or "wrong", just not terribly attractive or effective. I don't have time for it. You haven't asked me what I NEED.

I'm very very busy. I live a very full life. Between doctoring, network marketing, relationship coaching, writing books, doing radio shows, figure skating, west african drumming, and Zumba, there is little time left for anything that doesn't shout out "I'm here to make your life easier!".

So get to know your prospect. Ask questions first. Listen for a need. Don't waste your time on someone who doesn't have a need you can fill!
