Why did I go to medical school?
I love science. I love helping people. So I thought being a doctor was the best choice when I was young. Besides, it is one of the few "acceptable" careers for first generation Asian imigrants! Unfortunately, my body did not like being a doctor. Years of sleepless nights, 32-72 hours in a row on call and a highly ambitious personality, caused my body to collapse. Little did I know that entering the world of network marketing would be part of my healing.
I was resistant to network marketing, having experienced my mother's complaints of her friends pushing liquid detergents and cosmetics on her. I NEVER in a million years would have imagined that I would get into network marketing. Why would I? I became a doctor. Doctors are supposed to earn big bucks right?
Well, yes, doctors earn good money. But what I didn't realize is that the toll it took on my delicate body caused me to become partially disabled from the 60 hour work weeks and I no longer earn the big bucks. And by big bucks, I mean $100,000 to $120,000 a year.
It was thanks to my interest in acupuncture, energy healing, and spirituality that I began to heal my body. Another doctor introduced a network marketed health care product to me and I would never have agreed to try it except for one thing. It promised to increase my strength and endurance without drugs, chemicals or taking anything by mouth and it used acupuncture meridians for its effect (something I could relate to!).
Although still recovering from my illness, I tried this network marketing product and to my utter surprise, it helped me win a gold medal at a figure skating competition! The stuff really works!
It has embarrassingly taken me YEARS to get into the business opportunity of MLM despite having introduced the product to many patients. It wasn't until I attended the millionaire mind three day intensive by T. Harv Eker last December that I now understand why I was so resistant.
I had a money blueprint set for "LOW". Money was "a necessary evit", Wealth was "greed" etc. I've changed all that now. Now I think MLM is wonderful! It will be one of my strategies to free me from trading time for money...so eventually, I can still be a doctor a few days a week just for fun and the rest of the time, take care of my body and enjoy the rest of my life.
So being part of network marketing has expanded my comfort zone, increased joy in my life, and has forced me to look at parts of myself that were in the shadow (my negativity to money).

Thank you for sharing
Thank you Karen for sharing your story. I too am an alternative healthcare provider. I am a massage practitioner and after reading your blog I was reassured that MLM is the right choice. If you have a good company with a good effective product, then sharing should come naturally. I am determined to spread the word to help others and networking with like-minded people is key. Once again thanks for re-inspiring me :)
