Sex, Love and Romance: or What Do You Choose?
In Chapter 11, Dr. Hill addresses the kind of "animal magnetism" we've come to associate with our leaders. Though he talks about "great men," he does mention that all the principles outlined in the chapter also apply to women.
A key idea in this chapter is that human beings need a stimulus to allow them to become greater than they are. When we are safe and happy, comfortable in our lives, then we simply coast. We are content to remain where we are. But, give us the desire for something we do not possess, and we run wild trying to get it. The desire to connect sexually with another – or many others – is the most powerful of such stimuli.
But, the emotion of sex, or sexual desire, itself is nothing but a harnessed tornado. Tornados spin and focus on themselves, moving without a plan or purpose, except the expression of their pent up energy. Tornados reach out blindly, grabbing the roof of this building, that cow, a car over there, and carrying them until they cause too much drag. Then, the items that previously were snatched up are carelessly deposited in strange places. The human being who follows only sexual desire becomes like the eye of the tornado, moving around inside the storm, but having no control over events and eventual destiny.
Add to the emotion of sex the emotion of love, and the power of the tornado is harnessed in a vacuum sweeper. You know the kind, very popular on the market today. The power is still there, and it still picks up whatever happens to be in its path. But there is an element of control over where the path leads. The power has been harnessed for a useful purpose, and so guidance is possible.
Once you mix in romance, the reaching out of one soul for another, you create the most potent combination ever known. Sex is the raw power, love makes guidance possible, but romance yields true control. For in reaching out to another soul, my own soul asserts itself in whatever I do. I cannot woo the one I hope to win and not be the one who hopes to win her/him.
It is the combination of these three forces that makes or breaks a human being. Love, sex and romance are the most elemental creative forces ever. No great accomplishment was ever achieved by someone who had nothing to prove to anyone. Every great achiever thanks someone; if they're lucky, several someones, when they arrive on the heights. Whether it is achievement to win someone, or to show someone what they're missing out on, it is motivated by sex, love and romance.
When we use our creative imagination, we are really gaining inspiration from Infinite Intelligence. It is what we do with that inspiration that determines when and how often we return to that connection. We must use that inspiration to further the creative cause of sex, love and romance, or we will not reach that source again. When we take the inspiration and use it for positive creative purposes, we insure that the pathway stays open and achievement will follow.
It is up to each of us. Do we dissipate the stimuli in physical activity? Do we gain the inspiration and do nothing with it? Or do we keep the cycle revving, creating ever more charge, ever more excitement and achievement?
I choose to use the stimulation to find inspiration. I choose to use that inspiration to build my dreams and achieve greatness. I choose to return to the well for more and ever more. How about you?
