I Got Laid Off, What Do I Do?

That's right, I Got Laid Off, What Do I Do? So here's the weird thing. I'm in the States for my "Internship", and I just got laid off on Friday! So let me explain my situation here... Throughout my whole internship experience with this company, I did not get much work. I was asked to do either lead scraping or data entry, not anything entrepreneurial about it. I had even approached the company telling them I could help them with their SEO efforts and marketing online, which they decided not to  listen to.

So after many months of sounding off to my program coordinators and not having work to do, and a bunch of other complicated issues. The company had finally decided to let me go stating that they did not have enough work for me to stay in the company and I wasn't adding any value to their operations.I Just Got Laid Off, What Do I Do

I Got Laid Off, What Do I Do?

I got laid off, what do I do right? Well, thankfully because I was able to sound off about my situation early in the program, I had the opportunity to work for 2 companies, and I will now be working full time in the other company. I really enjoy working there as the CEO is able to utilize my skills and passion to his advantage, giving him more exposure online to potential clients. For example, I have been able to get his page on the first page of Google for a bunch of keywords in his industry, which is also helping him to get more traffic to his website.

I Got Laid Off, What Do I Do? - My Feelings

I hope you have read to this point because I am very sure you are saying if I am working for 2 companies and I got laid off, it doesn't affect me. The truth is, I am affected by it. The feelings that I had experienced did not feel good. You see, no matter how much skills or talents you possess, you always stand a chance of getting laid off.

On top of that, you NEVER know when you will ever get laid off if you are working for somebody else. With an expected economic recession looming ahead, there is a likelihood that a ton more people are going to be laid off during this period. The feeling does not feel good because it takes away your energy and makes you think that you are not worthy, that you do not have any value. It also takes away your power because you are not in control of your destiny.

Given that I am still at a young age, I am really glad that I got laid off because it has allowed me to experience how VULNERABLE it can be at a JOB. If you are working for someone, you will never know when you will get laid off. However, one exception remains and that is having a family to support. I believe that this feeling will be more crushing as you would have more things to be concerned about.

"I Got Laid Off, What Do I Do?" - What YOU Should Do

The best thing that you should do instead of just sitting around and thinking "I got laid off, what do I do?" is to realize that you are capable of owning your life. Maybe it's time to start thinking about starting your own home based business where you can really create time and money freedom for you and your family. Nobody else can determine your outcome if you have your have your own home-based business, except you. So maybe it's time to stop thinking "I got laid off, what do I do" and own your life!
