Successful Network Marketing Online

Regardless of what some recruiters tell you, a successful long term network marketing business isn’t going to be built hiding behind a computer monitor and website.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that you can:

  • stick up a website (usually provided for you)
  • do some advertising on Google or someplace
  • kick back and watch lots of people sign up

All this with little additional effort on your part - just an automated online sponsoring machine.

This is a great pitch, and in actual practice it can work to some degree. You can advertise and sponsor people without having to talk to them. You don’t even have to send personal emails - everything can be automated. The problem is, this type of business building usually results in very high turnover. People tend to quit and move to the next “hot deal” faster than you can sign others up to replace them.

To be truly successful in network marketing online, you should take a different approach.

The Real Value of the Internet

The Internet is a fantastic medium that helps you identify prospects who have an interest in a home business. It will still be up to you to personally contact these people and help them get started. You have to be willing to pick up the phone and talk.

Think of the Internet as a valuable tool for gathering leads. You can find good prospects who are ready to look at your business. Once your prospect has come forward, you need to apply a personal touch. People interested in network marketing and MLM opportunities are looking for someone to help them get started successfully. That someone is YOU.

The Wonderful World of Email

Email is a wonderful tool for communicating with your prospects and downline members. We could not do network marketing online without email.

However, please keep in mind that email is not the only way you should communicate.

In our rush to use time-saving technology, it is easy to forget the value of the personal touch. Pick up the phone and talk to your prospects. Call your key downline associates on a regular basis. In between calls, use email to keep things rolling.

Don’t You Hate to Sell?

You may be thinking, but I hate selling. Well, I hate selling too, in the traditional sense that we often think of it. I don’t consider calling someone who has contacted ME to be selling - I think of it as offering information.

You should never have to push or try to convince anyone to join your business. Let your online information tools provide the details, then fill in the gaps by talking to your prospects. Let them make their own decision.

What You Really Want in Network Marketing

You really want prospects who are interested and truly motivated to start a home business. Your job is to provide the details of your business (let your promotional tools do the work). If your business is a good fit, your prospect will know it. At this point, you will provide whatever additional information is needed and assist them in signing up.

Isn’t this better than the old-fashioned, high pressure “sell ‘em” approach?

I think so.
