The Lazy Apple Tree

Once upon a time in a far off land there was a young apple tree in a world famous apple orchard. This young tree was very proud and was very pleased with how tall he had grown and how bushy his branches had become. He reckoned he was the most handsome and strong apple tree in the whole of the orchard. His neighbors were much older but were very kind and would offer advice to the young tree.

“Make sure you put down deep roots into the most fertile parts of the land” they would tell him. “Stretch your roots to the brook so you can drink in dry times and still have plenty to drink”. The young tree received plenty of advice but he thought to himself that he really didnt need to take advice from those old trees. He had noticed that they produced lots of apples, big and shiny and he also noticed that they were picked off and eaten by humans and animals alike. He thought to himself, ‘Wow what a waste of time and effort” When my time comes I’ll just product just one or two and conserve my energy.

The old trees would talk to him about this after seeing that he only produced one apple. They explained that you have just about zero chance of ever producing another tree if you just produce just one apple. So the next year the young apple tree said to himself…huh I wont even bother with even one apple! Why waste my time. He did notice however that the apple orchard was growing in size, that younger apple trees were growing and producing many apples. He said to himself, ‘wow foolish trees wasting all their time on effort on producing apples only to be eaten by humans and animals’

The older wiser trees were very concerned for this arrogant lazy tree they warned him that a tree that bears no fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. But he ignored their advice and would always say to himself that no way would that happen as he was an apple tree tall and bushy and very handsome. After all he did produce an apple once every year or so, so he was doing something. And there as a chance that another tree would grow from this one apple.

Then one day along came a human, looked into his branches found no apples and ordered that the lazy arrogant apple tree be cut down. The older wiser trees were sad to see this happen and wondered to themselves if they could have said more. But after all an apple tree job was to produce an abundance of apples. Unless there are plenty of apples to eat and plenty of seeds produced then how can the apple orchard be a success. There is no room for a lazy apple tree. After all in nature produces an abundance of everything to birth anything worth while.

So if you are a network marketer, reexamine your efforts, make sure that there is an abundance of whatever you do to produce the results you want. Lest you end up like that lazy apple tree.
