The Real Power Of A Blog
You probably heard it several times whether you are new or a seasoned internet network marketer and that is “Get a blog” gurus tell you it’s a great way to get traffic, build up your list and even help you recruit.
Now, while all of things are true, a blog is so much more than just a traffic magnet that search engines love, they also serve as your platform to create relationships and brand yourself don’t you agree?
Blogs are platforms that you can use to express yourself and create a conversation. It always give me great pleasure to go to some of the blogs I like and read how that person is feeling or what new thing I can learn from them. When a person is being authentic and genuine about their specific topic of interest and sharing great knowledge it makes me come back for more. If it is something I really like, I just add them to my rss feed so I can get the information right away.
For example…
I subscribed to David Woods Blog, he and about a handful of other online network marketers are the only one’s I know that truly post how they feel and helpful information on their blog without trying to sell you every freaking sentence. You never know what he is going to say or teach. He gives great content and in great detail. In my opinion
David is too detail but that is his personality and those who loves that kind of teaching keeps going back for more and that is why he is considered to be a guru online. Not because he is the top producer in his company or he makes x amount of dollars with online programs and courses, but because he is himself and he takes pride in what he does and love to help people and uses his blog as a platform to do it.
So how can you do the same thing?
Well, you can start out by getting a blog if you don’t have one. WordPress is great but if you are comfortable with the others than go with that. Also:
- Post often- People want to hear what you have to say or they would not be coming to your site. Make frequent post that are valuable to your audience. It doesn’t have to be all about strategies and secrets, it can be about how you are feeling or who you met or interviewed.
- Ask open-ended questions-Ask people to comment on your blog, post questions and get people to answer. Start the dialog and interaction
- Comment on other peoples blog- Don’t comment for backlinks, comment because you enjoyed what you read. Find other blogs that interest you and comment on them. You never know the type of relationship you start with the owner
- Make your rss feed obvious- let people know they can subscribe to your rss feed and get the information as soon as it post. Also offer the option to rss-to email.
- Connect your social booking sites- extend your conversation by allowing others who are your friends on different social media sites weigh in on the conversation
Bottom line, have fun with it. Yes your blog serves as a tool to help you get more leads, traffic, and all that good stuff, but it is also a place where you can “win friends and influence people.” Sounds cliché but its true.
