My Powerful Message --> "Look in the Mirror!"
Hey BetterNetworkers! I'm sure you have heard the old saying: Look in the mirror, You are the problem and the solution to all of your problems.
Hey I agree, wouldn't you?
I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I struggled SOOOO much in this industry when I got started. I blamed other people, blamed other companies, blamed my dogs, you name it. Someone else was responsible for my failure.
It wasn't until I heard one of my mentors who told me to LITERALLY get out of my chair, go to my bathroom and look in the mirror.
He said: "Look at yourself, Greg. You are the problem and the solution!"
Holy Crap! He was right!
There wasn't anyone to blame but myself.
And it wasn't until I fully understood that, that I started seeing the results in my business.
I still see this everyday. At the gym, people complaining that they can't lose weight but yet still stop at the drivethru 2-3 times per week.
I see it on the roads. People are complaining and blaming other drivers for being late, for hitting red lights.
I see it in this industry. People are putting "some" work in, not seeing the results they want, and continue to point the finger at someone else.
I see it in the economy. People putting blame on the economy.
We are Americans. We control the economy. We are the economy.
We have so much control of our lives but very, very few people understand this.
So I guess my question is: Do you point the finger at someone else when life isn't going your way?
Or
Are you responsible and mature enough to point the finger at yourself?
I had this quote that just popped into my head last night:
"The ONLY time you should ever point the finger is if you are standing in front of a mirror!" - Greg Schmidt
You all have my permission to steal this quote, if you want.
I'm also reminded about a great song by Michael Jackson, "Man in the Mirror"
The lyrics go like this: "If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change!"
Change the world by changing yourself first! How awesome would our world be if more people not only understood this, but will take action to actually change themselves?
The world we live in is a good place. I just think it can be a great place if we stop pointing the finger at someone or something else and start taking some responsibilty!
Thoughts?
