Old School Internet Marketing

I have been online for just over 13+ years. I remember when No More Hits and Yes More Hits were almost the only only traffic exchanges online and promoting businesses online was so much easier!

People were less jaded, and a GOOD subject line on a safelist email could get you 5-10 referrals a day. Believe it or not, I still use all of the "old school" tools as well as the modern PPC, SEO, article writing, Blogging, Web 2.0, and social bookmarking that are the current "Best Practices".

The results might not be as stellar as the early marketing days, but a good traffic exchange with a good lead capture page can generate leads, and in the lower end programs, even sign ups. Free Reports seem to do well also.

There are thousands, no; hundreds of thousands of online people using traffic exchanges. There are e-books on how to get the most value from them. I personally own part of an exchange and am currently getting ready to help a friend build his up. They do serve a valuable traffic service and are worth 15-20 minutes a day of your daily routine to generate some views of your websites. Depending upon your browser, you can surf four to eight sites at the same time to gain the most efficient use of your own time.

Safelists are also still popular and have a huge base of loyal users. They make a great testing ground if you are a PPC fan. If your subject line gets lots of response then you know you are on to something. Safelists require some ad copy skills to really do well. A personal email that's well written and reflects the writer's excitement and enthusiasm for a product or program will generally fair better than the copy and paste out of your "back office" email, unless it's a brand new product or program.

I can tell you that submitting to Safelist will cause a great traffic increase. If you have your own domain and use webalizer or a similar traffic statistics program you can see the difference.
