Leverage Your Past Experience For Future Success

What is it that you really want?

Many people do not know what success really is, and therefore it eludes them.
Try to define the parameters of your personal success. It will help you create a detailed vision of what that looks like. You need to know what your target is.

Success is very personal and individual concept. What motivates you? Is it money or self-satisfaction? Your vision of success is unique only to you. Everyone has different motivations.

You need to decide what are the most important things in life for you. It leads to personal change.

Honestly access and decide what you value. Evaluate where you are in life and where you want to go. Otherwise, you are holding yourself back from your dreams and the achievement of your greatest goals.

What do you like?

- What are your true passions and interests?
- What are the most important things you are seeking from life? Have you ever stopped to consider it?
- Many of our careers began out of necessity, instead of passion, did yours?
- Did you take a job because it paid the bills and kept you occupied?

Sadly, the reality is: many careers are about making money rather than an outlet for our passion.

It is important to separate the process of making money from the process of enjoying your life. Identify what you truly love and accepting it as your passion, and then taking the steps to incorporate your passion into your daily life, the process of making money will follow closely behind.

What are you good at?

- Do you understand what skills you possess as well as those you do not?
- What skills do you need to become successful?
- What are you good at in life and at work? Create a list of your strengths.
- Any skills that do not show up on your list, yet are needed to become successful need to be addressed. You need to work on them.

The most important aspect is self-confidence, knowing that you are confident in what you are doing, leads you to success.

What are you now?

Any journey has three components, a start, middle and an end. The start is where the journey commences, the end is where the journey is going, and the middle encompasses the lengthy process of getting there. It is daily ongoing process.

Be honest with yourself...

Are you able to establish where you are right this moment?

Try to define precisely where you are and where you are going and figure out how to get there.

Write down your present state, then make the necessary decisions to improve your current condition.

Take stock of your career, fiances, personal relationships and physical health. Assess yourself on every level.

Where are you going?

Do you have a clear sense of where you want to wind up in life? - Develop a clear interpretation of the desired outcome.

Envision the future from several different perspectives by analyzing what the possible outcomes will be if nothing changes today.

If there are any areas that you are dissatisfied with, and no steps are taken, to correct the action, then your future will not improve.

Gap analysis

Gap analysis defines the starting point and ending point and defines what connects the two. It is the difference between how you live your life today and how you wish to live it tomorrow.

E.g. You are making £60 000 a year and wish to make £85 000 a year. You know that you need to earn an additional £25 000. The process begins when you craft a strategy to figure out how you are going to generate the additional cash.

Understand your gap between your present life and your desired life. This requires logical and focused thought and the ability to accept today’s realities along with the visions to create tomorrow’s dreams.

By infusing yourself with an absolute commitment to success and achievement and being determined to stop at nothing to attain these goals, you can achieve success.

Making your future happen?

Do not focus on what you could have been, because you will limit your foresight. Limit your foresight means that you limit yourself.

Appreciate your strengths and your positive experiences, but also try to learn from the negative ones.

Define the parameters of personal success and create a detailed vision of what it looks like.

If you want to hit a specific target, you need a specific target to hit.

Take stock of your success!

- Remove the blindness and see your life what it is.
- Honestly assess your present state of affairs.
- Identify your personal glasses ceiling, e.g. I am too old; I am not good enough etc. Get passed it.
- Make a decision to create a change. Be serious about it.

Envision the future

You need to understand that you can control you destiny. We do not want anyone to control our lives.

Another important aspect is the fact that you need to be self-motivated to get there.

Craft a powerful and moving vision to make it happen.

Embrace your past within the content of the future

You need to recognise the value of your personal expertise.

Give yourself credit where the credit is due.

And understand that you can do anything you commit doing.

Creating your vision is a necessary first step - it is the beginning of you plan. Actually taking the steps to make it happen becomes your new reality.

Focus, plan and act

- Establish your priorities
- Believe in yourself and never look back
- Jettison your baggage and do not mess around
- Control your future instead of letting it control you
- Use setbacks as learning experiences
