Christmas is to Commercialized
How many of you guys feel the way I do about this time of the year?
Yes it is a very special time of the year to be with loved ones and
friends and share love and reflect back on the past and thank God for
everything he has given us.
It seems to me that if people don't max out there credit cards and buy
everything that someone wants for christmas they are not happy. But I
don't believe that is the only way a person should be happy
is by how much the gift cost.I was shaking my head with the
day after Thanksgiving sale (black Friday). Hoards of people storming into a
walmart and actually trampling a worker to get a bargain. Now that
makes no sense to me. People buy so much stuff and putting it on a
credit card so they can pay for it all the next year and then they start
the process all over again.
Yes it is nice to give and receive at Christmas but the gift of
love and friendship that used to be good enough has long gone by
the wayside. I know many people will over spend and fight tooth
and nail to pay credit cards off all year and do without things they
actually need to survive just to make someone else happy. I am a firm
believer that a hug, hand shake or a call from a friend is all the gift
that I need to receive. This time of year has gotten so commericalized
that I have gotten to the point I don't even like it as much as I used to.
Does anyone have these same feeling about the holiday season?

Unfortunate, But True...
Yes it should be more about the "reason for the season" but, over time, it has become more about greed and commercialism.
sad, but True
I feel the same way....
I also agree that it is a time sharing love and enjoying the company of others; however I think that should be a 365 event. I think it's a scheme for business to boost it's sales just before tax time comes. Like the police...you see them a hek of a lot more at the end of each month.
I second Kevin, it's a lame excuse to have to spend money to enjoy the presence of loved ones....there presence is a gift in and of it's self.
Personally, I don't need xmas to show my love and I don't fall victim to c/c debt.
Is Christmas too commercialized?
A resounding YES! I get depressed this time of year when I see all of the advertising that goes into promoting STUFF. It sickens me when I have friends that get up at 2:00 in the morning to get their spoiled brats the latest toy. I love giving to others. I try and do it throughout the year. Fortunately, my children have been raised to expect the really special gifts on their Birthdays. For me that is more of a reason to celebrate. We spend time with family and friends on most major holidays. It is something that we look forward to. Everyone contributes a side dish to the main meal on Christmas and it is usually something reserved just for the occasion.
Christmas
I avoid the commercialism. When you think that most retail stores would go out of business if it wasn't for Christmas. It seems to have lost it meaning, It is not the Christmas I remember from my youth.
I spend it with friends and family when possible in a quiet environment remembering the good things from the past and the one that the holiday is named for.

True meaning
Yes the true meaning of christmas is gone. It seem's to be all about the money. No longer is there that concept of good will to all men.
Christmas is now a time for getting intoxcated and maxing out your credit card.
What really as happend to the good old fashien hug, smile and hand shake ?
Great post
