Writing your own blog
So you are interested in writing your own blog?
Writing your own blog – the early days
I don’t think I have to explain what a blog is. Everybody knows. But how to start writing your own blog is a different story.
How things change. When I started with my internet marketing, one of the first things one had to do was to create your own web site. This is not so easy to do, although there were Google pages available for a while, so at least one could work with pre-set templates. Who wants to learn FTP and HTML etc? This was way before Weebly came along (Thank you Weebly!).
Writing your own blog – with Blogger
Then, slowly, blogging became the thing to do. Writing your own blog became easier. Using blogger.com as a free blogging platform, was not too difficult to set up, but it included also the danger of being shut down from one day or another, as soon as someone didn’t like you and flagged you. Same with the free Word press option. Be careful what you write about, or you will loose your blog.
Writing your own blog – with Word Press
Then there is the Word press option, where you can get the WP blog for free but you have to set your blog up with your own hosting, your own domain name etc. Of course this has the advantage that no one can shut your down but…HALLO, you have to be some kind of techie to even be able to set this up right. With “uploaden and dowloaden and unzippen” and phew, this can be quite a task.
Compared to setting up a web site from scratch, setting up a WP blog was still easier to do. So more and more people started using a blog instead of a web site. One of the advantages, you can add new content very easily, add photos, videos….forget about FTP access...
So here are we now, years later, and writing your own blog / blogging has become the way to communicate online, to show off your products, to write your diary, to advertise and market on the internet.
