What Would You Do With 300 Old Magnetic Sponsoring Leads?
What Would You Do With 300 Old Magnetic Sponsoring Leads?
Eric Walker, my fiance, first bought Magnetic Sponsoring nearly two years ago. He'll be the first to admit that he didn't do anything with it. He said he advertised on CraigsList using the MS capture page, but it was so long ago.
As we were preparing an attraction marketing email series, I asked him about those old Magnetic Sponsoring leads. He said there was no way we could start sending them emails, that it was so long ago...He also mentioned that no where on the MS lead capture page does it spell out that they would be receiving email from Eric Walker.
What Would You Do? "Throw Away" Those Leads or ...
Eric had a grin on his face. "Let's start dialing," he said. "We're going to take the responsibility of calling these leads - one at a time over the next week."
We Had a Goal - We wanted to connect voice to voice with the sole intent to simply make a connection, offer value and receive verbal permission to send them emails about attraction marketing.
We weren't trying to sell something; weren't going to try and hit a home run.
Live Webinar by Mike Klingler Called 'Attraction Marketing on the Phone' was of Assistance
Eric and I listened to a live call provided by Mike Klingler, creator of Marketing Merge Renegade University on Saturday. He spoke about addressing one's target market over the phone using attraction marketing principles and providing value.
In the hour long discussion he offered effective techniques, tips and advice. The timing couldn't have been better, as what to do with these old Magnetic Sponsoring leads was weighing my mind.
At the end of the webinar, I had a clearer idea in mind of how to accomplish the goal.
If It Doesn't Come Naturally, Be Prepared. I Had Notes.
Eric helped me write notes. But once I was on the phone, I didn't look at that piece of paper once. Seeing as I knew the reason why I was calling, the conversation went smoothly. I was able to communicate my thoughts because I knew what I was talking about.
You can't really "mess up" when you're being honest with your prospect and yourself, and you know what value you have to offer.
The second phone call was easier than the first, and the third one was easier than that. So on and so forth. It was great to connect with these strangers who really appreciated the call. It mattered.
Some phone numbers I dialed led to leaving messages. Some said they weren't interested in internet network marketing. But that is great because I can cross them off the list. Rather have them 'off the list' than upset about unwanted email.
Of course, I wanted them to express interest, but I didn't expect anything.
And with this mindset, I was pleasantly surprised when four people agreed to be added to our email list over the course of 30 minutes. A first step was accomplished.
Calling Prospects Doesn't Have to be Scary
I realized something more about my mindset...those that I call on the phone and speak with are privileged that at this moment in time, I'm even calling leads. At this point in time I'm available to actually help someone one on one. This won't be the case as EricWalkerMarketing grows. This won't be the case when we are generating 10-30 leads a day.

Glad to hear of your success Kaitlin. And thanks for sharing it - hopefully you'll motivate others into taking action.
Fantastic Information
Hi KaitlinRose,
Thanks for the informative blog entry regarding the role of the telephone in building relationships and growing your business. The points you make about be yourself and being honest really struck home.
Best always and say hi to Eric for me!
Jim Hickey
thank you for that intel.
thank you for that intel. Calling people is not a bad idea. I call it the the personal approach.
Right Choice.
Great work overcoming the fear.
It was same when I was in door-to-door sales. Making the first knock was always the hardest. Once you got into it, it was never as bad as it seemed when you were getting of bed in the morning.
Keep it up.
Keep on truckin'
Thank you for your encouraging responses everybody!
As an update:
I continued calling last night and was successful "recruiting" 3 more people into the email series. I even had a half hour conversation with one woman - a network marketer doing well for herself - and by the end of our chat we had exchanged all sorts of valuable information about websites, blogging, became friends on Facebook and here on BN.
You never know what you're going to get when you pick up the phone and dial. Who is on the other end? And the question is not only what you can offer them, but what they have to offer you.
It's all a learning experience. There is no such thing as failure. There is no waste of time, and therefore no opportunity should be missed or passed up, ever.
Best wishes to all of you in your endeavors!

Great effort Kaitlin
It's all about practice and developing consistency. You will be so prepared now for those 10-30 leads calling you a day! I must tell you though the ones you attract via your own marketing are a whole different breed! They are already pre-sold when they get to you. It's then a simple matter of asking them a few questions so you can see how you can best be of assistance to them.
I too had notes that I no longer need. I've gone from hyper-ventilating before a call to simply picking up the phone and dialing. This is part of the process we all need to work through. It's not scary when you make the mind shift from having an agenda and trying to sell someone to having a conversation with someone and listening to them.
I completely agree with you about checking someone off your list once and for all. For the reason you mentioned and also so you are not deluding yourself that they may be a hot prospect. Checking off your list releases endorphins as an added bonus!
Your leads are definitely priveleged to hear from you. You two are going to be tremendously successful with your internet marketing business!
