Is Your Biscuit Cooked?

According to My Mentor and good friend Michael Doughy, one of the first, and most important things you must do in order to be successful in network marketing, is to identify your WHY.

Micheal hammers this point over and over and says "A strong and well defined WHY, is what will keep you around long enough to be successful in this business."

Well, how to I develop a WHY that will give me the staying power to stick around?  Often times, the negative thoughts start to get their foothold in your mind saying things like, "well this is just too hard!" or, "my life wasn't that bad before I discovered that network marketing takes work."

Michael says a great place to begin is in the recesses of your psyche.  Take time to spot "old frustrations and vengefulness and crazed hatreds and lustful desires and unfulfilled dreams and long-time, unachieved goals and all that other wonderful stuff that makes us who we are..."  then"HARNESS it all to help you achieve what you most want in life."

You have been the EFFECT of this stuff long enough.  Now it's time to turn it around and use it to your benefit!

He says your WHY must be a 99.9 percenter!  Your WHY is going to get you up off that couch.  Its going to make you get on a conference call, when the rest of the 98% are watching their favorite sports team.  Its going to make you call back the prospect who requested more information ablut your business.

It's going to make you work on YOU!  To make YOU the best YOU you can be!

So here is an Exercise you can use to determine how motivated YOU are to do whatever it takes to be successful.

The first step is to write down your "WHY."  If you are not willing to take the time to do this, you might want to think again about a career in network marketing.

As a matter of fact, do better than that, write down the 3 biggest reasons you MUST be successful.  We are playing for keeps here.  This is no dressed rehersal, this is your life and future.  If you can't do it right now, sit there until you can.  If you want accountability, you can even email them to me if you want to, my email is at the bottom of the page.

Michael says if you don't do this for yourself, then "your biscuit isn't cooked!  You'll quit so fast, it'll make your head spin."

No "WHY" No Hope!

Statistics say ninety percent of the people who start a business will never write down their reasons.  Do you see a connection to the high failure rate in network marketing?  So if you write yours, it is a good indication.

So, write your WHYs and make them GOOD!

You are the only person who knows if they're good enough reasons to see it through.  Write out as many as you can think of.  Keep working on them, they will evolve as time goes on.

When you have nailed your "WHY"  Then you are in business!

Thanks For Sharing Kevin!

This is something that we think about a little and then we start our business.  And when the going gets tough unfortunately some of us have not identified WHY we started what we started in the first place, so like you say we justify our reversal.  I for one will revisit my WHY and make sure it is as rock solid as the Rock of Gibraltar!  As I do want to finish on top!  Thank you Kevin.

The big "Y"

With a why one has nothing to focus on therefore nothing to succeed in.

Why Against the "No's"

Kevin,

Having a strong written why is extremely important against the barage of "no's", unreturned messages, bad and disconnected phone numbers, the test of time and the degree to which you are willing to put up with it all before you hone your skills sufficiently to see results.

I read my why every morning and my vision before every phone call. That way I am focused on the task at hand which is offering a solution to that person's problem.

Would love to hear some of your WHY's. You can find mine at my profile page at the bottom of my About Me.
