Your Prospect will Give You 30 Seconds-Make it count!

Today on our Leadership training call, Richard Dennis covered notes from "How to Get Your Point Across in 30 Seconds or Less," by Milo O' Frank.

In this book Frank explains that "30 seconds, is the key to effective communication."

It causes one to focus on the main points to be communicated in a logical, and concise order, making the message easier to listen to, and builds confidence in the deliverer of the message.

But, here is  the kicker.  Before you can deliver your 30 second message, you must grab the attention of your subject.  Within 7 to 10 seconds, your listener will have already decided whether or not you are worth listening to before you even deliver the goods.

Remember,  "they do not care about YOU, they are more concerned by whats on THEIR minds at the current moment, that is why your had better get their attention, then make it count, cause thats all your going to get!

The essential elements your listener still needs to know are who, what, why, where, and how.

Think of your 30 second presentation is terms of a newscast.  The term now used in the industry is sound bite.  Even the professionals know the importance of keeping the story tight and to the point.

Another tip that can be useful is to use clean and simple language.  Use one syllable words as much as possible, no more than two.  This will have the effect of toning down the message so as not to talk above the average listener.

Think about it.  Some of the greatest songs and literary works, contain one or two syllables.

The better you present yourself, the better you will be. 

Studies show that only 8% of the effect of your spoken words, are the words themselves.  The rest is your body language and the manner in which you deliver those words.  And don't forget to smile at the start and finish.

MLM Legend Tom "Big Al" Schreiter calls it  getting inside your prospects head.  You must first, "get attention!" make your case, and close the deal or ask for action on the part of your prospect.
