Mentoring is key...
... in all aspects of life. Having someone to stand beside you and "coach" you... or even just to bounce ideas off of is fantastic. I have three strong female role-models at my "day job" and in addition to helping my career (one is a VP in our organization and has been a strong advocate for me), we have all become great friends.
