Diary of a Network Newbie – 09.02.10
Yes, it’s true, I’m a Network Newbie. I know you’re not supposed to admit to others in the industry or to leads/prospects that you are new and still learning the ropes, but I am going on record to let everyone know that I’m a Newbie, and proud of it!
I know there are other people out there, like me, that have worked hard all their lives in traditional jobs, always wishing and hoping that there was something better. Then we were introduced to Network Marketing, and we thought our prayers had been answered! Here was a way to be our own boss, in addition to making more money than we ever thought possible!! Woohoo! We were on our way to the big houses and fast cars that the presentation video showed us!
OK – fast forward 30-60-90 days – Ummm….where’s all the money? Why can’t I reach my upline? Why can’t I get someone to sign up under me? I’m doing everything my upline told me would work. I keep spending money buying leads, ads, etc. This is really not working the way I thought it would, BUT I am determined to make this work…
Does this sound like you? This was me.
I know that there are a lot of folks out there struggling, even if they are not willing to admit it. When I told my upline that I was struggling, I was told that I wasn’t trying hard enough. I wasn’t spending enough money. I wasn’t talking to enough people. It was AWLAYS my fault! Doesn’t make a person want to confide in their upline any more…
I can happily say that I have since found an awesome mentor who has explained to me why IT ISN'T MY FAULT, and I am finally on my way to the financial freedom that only Network Marketing can provide. I won't lie, I don’t have a Shelby GT 500 Mustang (black & gold, by the way) in my driveway yet, but it WILL come – I’m sure of that!
I have decided to start this blog so that I can share my progress in this journey. I want to reach out and let others know that they are not alone. Trust me, I’ve made pretty much every mistake possible and spent literally thousands of dollars with very little to show for it. If I can help even ONE person avoid the agony and frustration I’ve gone through up until now, it will all be worth it.
My goal in writing this blog is to share what I learn along the way, including the things that don’t work for me, in the hopes of helping others to achieve steps toward their success. I don’t claim to be an expert (YET!). I just want to be real and help as many other people along the way as I can. Truly.
Please send me your comments or share experiences with me that you have had. I’m sure there are lots of people out there who are going through the same things as you and I.
Here’s to the Journey and to Success!
Kind Regards,
Laurie

Good luck on your journey Laurie
It takes great courage to put yourself out there to the world. Beginning in network marketing is possibly the scariest situations one could find themselves in.
I commend you for being willing to share.
Best wishes & many blessing to you.
Nancy

I think you have done a great job. Keep up the good work and you will see the fruit of your labor. Remember to use your self-talk everyday. It will give you strength to keep going. If you need help let me know. As long as you never give up you will succeed.
God Bless You,
Mahlon Grube
Have a Great Day, unless you've made other plans!

As you progress along your journey in network marketing you will find out it IS your fault. And that's when your dairy will contain the words "I am responsible for where I am and what I am doing."
Your lack of success is directly because of the decisions YOU made. Not the company, upline, products, day of the week, rain or sunshine, blah, blah. You made the decisions. Can't remember who wrote it now but he was saying even if you were held at gunpoint to sign up with XYZ company, you still had a decision open to you. And you made it, one way or the other. YOU made it. It's called personal responsibility.
And nobody has been able to tell me: If it's NOT your fault, who's is it? As long as you are blaming something or someone else, you will guaranteed still not find the success you are searching for.
Joyce
p.s. Not my wisdom but the words and sentiments of every successful person I have ever read, listened to and/or met. And the message is clear: It IS your fault.
Thanks!
Thank you, Nancy for your kind words. They are very much appreciated!
Thanks!
Thanks, Mahlon! I appreciate the help that you have given me.
And yes, I WILL have a great day!
I agree with you, Joyce,
I agree with you, Joyce, that my future is up to me and the decisions I make, and no one else's. I am not blaming someone else for my lack of success initially. It was entirely due to my ignorance of the network marketing industry and what really does work. What I was being told to do only works for maybe 10% of the population. I know that now...I am just trying to reach out to others who may be be struggling through the same situation so that maybe I can save them some grief and heartache.
Thank you for taking the time to comment on my post.
Best regards,
Laurie
