A True Entrepreneurial Spirit~
How do you know if you are a true entrepreneur? They say it takes a certain person to be an entrepreneur. I believe it's true. I also believe there are certain qualities that can make the difference between an entrepreneur, and a successful business owner.
I started my virtual assistant business 7 years ago and, admittedly, have built a very nice business for myself and my clients. I call my own shots; work only with those I choose to work with; have full creative reign over my company and its direction. The best part is, I am happier and making more money than I ever had as an employee.
And, my mother would say, "Why can't you just be satisfied with what you have?"
"Because Momma, I am an entrepreneur!"
Is it just me? Or do we entrepreneurs naturally keep looking for better ways of doing things; higher mountains to climb; ways to grow and expand what we offer and who we work with?
So, what is the difference between an entrepreneur and a successful business owner? Having the opportunity to work "virtually" shoulder-to-shoulder with hundreds of entrepreneurs across the Nation, I have had the value of gaining strong insights into what works, and .... what doesn't necessarily work so well.
I believe that when you have the courage and tenacity to leave the "security" (term used loosely) of relying on someone else for a paycheck and benefits, and believe enough in yourself and your own talents and natural gifts to step up and offer them to the world, you must have an entrepreneurial spirit. And, I applaud you for having the vision and strength to do that.
Just like a true entrepreneur, after a time - just about when everything is running smoothly, like clockwork - you start to feel restless. Am I right? You know the feeling. It starts as a tingle in your bones, and it gets stronger and stronger until you can no longer ignore it.
It's the "call." The call to step up and out again. The call to find new ways, have bigger visions, build new things.
Don't let it throw you; all entrepreneurs have felt the call. What will make the difference between owning a successful business or being stuck in a solo-preneurial trap is what you do next.
A big-visioned, successful business owner will feel compelled to follow the call. And they are smart enough to know that they can't get where they want to go by continuing to do it all alone. They know they need a partner on their team who really understands business; who "gets" them, and believes in their visions and talents just as much as they believe in themselves.
Recognizing that you need help growing your visions into the next evolution of your business, and asking for that help, is what makes the difference between an entrepreneur and a successful business owner. And I applaud you for having the vision and strength to do that, again.
To your inspired success!
