How to Make Money Blogging 101-It's organic search traffic that makes the difference....
I'm going to come out and say it. The reason why most bloggers don't make money is because they are holding on to the idea that in order to make the most money, they need to continuously write in order to build an audience. While there is definitely a debate over whether the "social" side of blogging can make someone a serious income, the isn't a debate on what does...at least for the online marketers who ply their trade on the net. And while it may be a hard pill to swallow, being social is not only not a good way to make money online, if you are doing this chances are you will wind up frustrated in 2-6 months and quit.
It is hard, I know, but I believe that every blogger out there who hope to make money online need to hear it from someone. Getting Traffic to your blog (preferably organic search traffic) that is targeted should be every blogger's #1 priority if they hope to earn a living online. Without it, you may as well be doing something else other than creating content.
Social Traffic Doesn't Convert
The reason why I say this is because so many bloggers think that the road to riches is to be as social as possible. As an internet marketer, I can tell you with assurance that this is not the case.
Even hubbers on hubpages miss the point altogether. Heck, even hubpages suggestions on how to get traffic (email your friends, tweet it, add it on the wall of facebook, ect.) is misguided advice.
Getting targeted Organic traffic is the best way to make money blogging, building an authority website or even using article marketing, niche marketing or any other type of marketing to make sales....
The reason is simple:
When you tell your friend of a cool site or page that you made, they may look out of curiousity and may even like what you are doing but the chances are they won't be buying from you. Why not? Because unless your friend is in immediate need of something you are selling, then why should they?
Let's look at the other organic possibility:
Your friend has a wart on their face. They want to have it removed. They google it, find a website that is offering a solution and they now have an opportunity to actually do something about it.
Now which scenario is going to make a sale? You guessed it. The organic listings will get it every time because it is answering the needs of an immediate problem.
Compare this to the typical way that bloggers will go about trying to make money. Get social traffic....monetize it with general ads that aren't focused on a problem that is imminent to the visitor....See the problem? I recently wrote a guest post on kikolani.com that highlights this issus, by the way.
