Man, I'm Too Tired from my J-O-B to work my Part-Time Business!

If you can relate to this title, then I'm speaking to you!  If you can't directly relate, then you may have a business partner/associate/colleague who can!

Many of us who haven't yet made it to the point of being able to "fire" our jobs must still rely on the 9-to-5 to pay the bills.  The unfortunate thing about this is that we may often find ourselves
mentally or physically tired (or both!) after putting in a long day's work.  When we find ourselves in this place, it's sometimes difficult to put on a smile and be cheerful about our various causes.  In my
case, I'm sure my prospects would sometimes see this blood-shot eyed, low-energied human being  approaching them about my incredible business opportunity!  Likely response--"If I'll look like you,
thanks, but NO THANKS!"

I recently had a discussion with my (business) workout partner, Norm, about this very scenario.  He suggested and edified this book titled The Power of Full Engagement by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz, and discussed how these co-authors teach/train that in order to be "fully engaged", our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual energies need to be in balance.  Being in a mentally demanding job (I refer to it as running 90 miles-per-hour all day!) I needed an answer to my constant
mental fatigue!  In their book, Mr Loehr and Mr. Schwartz liken the corporate world to professional atheletes who actually need to have sustained focus for 8 or more hours daily!  Their simple (yet
profound!) techniques, including just taking a break from your work every 1 1/2 to 2 hours have made a remarkable difference in my energy levels!  We can't manage time (time management is a misnomer); but we can manage our energy so we can be fully engaged with the time we have!

So...if you find your mental or physical energy isn't in check, I HIGHLY recommend getting this book from your local library or for your own library!  :-)

Pace

I know exactly what you are talking about. Many days I am energized, pumped and ten feet tall and bullet proof. Then the day comes, I feel forced, fake and burned out. It kills me to take a day to step back, shut down the computer and (guilt) actually relax and enjoy some time off with my friends! It is OK, the wall of China was not built in a day. I work hard, hours and hours of hard work, there is nothing wrong with taking a day off. Balance, balance balance. Remember the old saying... all work and no play, makes Jack a DULL boy! We don't want to be dull boys, we want to be attractive, enthusiastic ... and that means being good to ourselves so we can be great for others.

Refuse To Lose

I wrote an article on this subject. It is posted in Ezine Articles.com and my thoughts on this subject are, if I get to a point where I feel I want to just be comfortable, I go back and read what I told myself that day. I think all of us need a place to go and get the spark back and know that success is not easy and we need to stay on the road we chose. One of my ways of getting back to where I need to be is I will write on the subject and get it out of me and let my article have it and go on to where I need to be. Many people have different things they do, but mine is giving it to the article I write and then I do not dwell on it any longer.

Interesting method--I

Interesting method--I appreciate the feedback!  I like to write--just don't make the time for it.  I'll stow this concept away in my arsenal... Thanks!

Well said

I truly get where you are coming from.  The sands of time are of no consequence these days.  The days are shorter and as soon as you get home you turn around and your back out of the door.

I would say it's important to remember our source and what prompted us to take that leap in the first place.  We must never lose sight of our purpose.
