When you are promoting your website, avoid making major
mistakes such as:
1. Promoting a website before it is completed and fully
ready because first impression by the visitors do matter
and this is detrimental whether to return later
2. Spam- this is absolutely a major mistake. Of course, you
can reach a lot of people this way but most of them will
not like this. Always ask for their permission before
emailing them your products' information
3. Using automatic promotion software- compared to manual
submission, you will get additional advantages such as
knowing when the requirements are changed and therefore
will be able to respond immediately and is educated about
the requirements of each search engine that you are
submitting to
4. Using bulk promotion companies- this is similar to spam,
and some search engines are banning these
5. Cheating the search engines- this includes using illegal

submission and ignorance will result in your website being
rejected
7. Exaggerating- be truthful about what your products or
services offer
8. Abusing USENET- if you are promoting your website in
USENET, do it casually and indirectly
9. Abusing the names of your competitors- never include the
names of your competitors in tags to prevent legal actions
10. Promoting illegal service or product- never promote
illegal products include software cracks and codes
