Stop living in fear - Start Living with Passion!
Sounds great doesn’t it? How to accomplish this feat?
The first thing we need to do is actually understand the dynamic that is fear. Much like Darren Hardy explaining that its the hole not the drill customers want, fear is the byproduct of pain and loss avoidance techniques. Fear is our way of dealing with the necessity of survival by creating a hole to hide in.
Fear paralyzes the mind, and uses adrenaline to call the body to action.
This might have been effective in ‘fight or flight’ scenarios but not when confronted by the modern reality of providing for ourselves and our families. A great survival skill of old, yet limiting and self defeating in our new realities.
Our biggest fears lie in our perceptions of the unknown. The simple truth is that ‘unknowns’ have an equal potential to be either a negative or positive based on our perception of it, yet fear advises us to err on the side of caution and simply avoid new experiences or actions or thoughts.
Logic tells us nothing ventured nothing gained. In order for good things to happen which will help us in our fight with reality based concerns; food, shelter, clothing, education, security, etc. then action must be taken. Logic trumps fear by showing most of our concerns are actually baseless.
Fear of flying? Statistics prove its much safer then driving.
Fear of failing. Don’t fear what must happen to achieve success, trial and error are the cornerstone of all achievement.
“I have not failed. I've just found 10000 ways that won't work.” Thomas A. Edison.
Fear of public speaking, heights, spiders, or any fear at all can be conquered with logic, knowledge, and exposure.
I myself feared heights. The first step for me to overcome this was to understand that I never need to place myself in a situation that might have me fall ( the real fear). The second step was to gain knowledge by learning of mountain climbing techniques, and best safety practices. The last and most crucial step was to face my fear and start to climb!
I have climbed to the summit of many mountains now and facing that fear led me to one of my favourite pastimes.
Logic trumps fear and passion can be your call to action.
Do you fear calling strangers on the phone who may want to join your business or become a customer? Do you fear relationships? Do you fear success?
Whatever the fear may be it can be conquered. The potential to grow from the experience, and to profit from it; financially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, is simply too great to bother with living in fear again.
Hope this helps you to free yourself, and never fear asking for help, it is here in abundance, from sources you didn’t even realize you had!
Always Smile!
