How I Got Over My Fear of Doing Videos
I have had quite a fear of doing videos. I did not have teckie ability so I got a webcam. I was talking to my friend Mike about the webcam and he told me I could use it with windows movie maker.
I saw Mia Davies doing videos every day and she did a couple that were fun, She said have fun with your videos just do one. I decided then that I would do a couple of short funny ones to get used to windows movie maker with the webcam.
I still did not know what to talk about. I ended up doing a St Pats day video with a silly headband on that had two little leprecon hats on it. I said top of the morning to U. One of my friends sent a video of me doing the bunny hop at WalMart to YouTube. The day I sang take me out to the ball game, I had some friends asking me when I was going to do my next video. I did a video singing Zippity Do Da and that was then I had some people in my part time job ask me if they could be my FB friend so they could see the videos the other associates were talking about. We were all having fun and smiling.
The Next Stage of Getting Past My Fear
I had many people that inspired me with their blogs and videos. Marketers like Juli Becker,Adrienne Smith, Lynda Cromar ,Mike Beaumont, Robert Dill and Rebecca Woodward. I still did not know what I was going to write about. I remember my friend Mike saying tell a story about something you like and link it to marketing. The baseball song reminded me about playing baseball, watching how baseball leagues work, and team work, and coaches. I then realized MLSP was set up the same way. Walla my first blog and video were now ready. I had to learn how to upload the video to YouTube and then into my blog.
I sat for a while trying to get past the panicky feeling about uploading the video into my blog, knowing this was going public, but I knew I had to do this if I wanted to move forward in my marketing. I called Mike and he told me how to get this done. Then I published the blog. I told a few people about this and they went and checked out my blog. I was totally surprised that they liked the analogy and really liked my video. I got past my fear of doing videos.
Keep going Even If You Make A Mistake
I have made a couple more blogs and video combinations, but a couple of times I messed up the video while I was making it. I was trying to learn how to edit it and when I got done I only had two squares left. I just laughed at myself and said get your but going and do another one. I did a video I really loved and scratched my nose while I was making it. I uploaded it to YouTube and did not know I could pick the thumbnail I wanted so guess what happened? I looked like I was picking my nose and I really like this video so I figured out how to pick another thumbnail. I am not going to let this kind of stuff keep me from what I enjoy doing. My desire to succeed is now bigger than my fear of failing. I got over my fear of doing videos.
