Mike Dillard Discovers Magnetic Sponsoring and Attraction Marketing Mike got into marketing while he was a college student. He had no money to speak of and lived on ramen noodle soup. He had no furniture. Mike describes himself in those days as extremely shy and little self-confidence. Mike said he avoided calling prospects. He did attend every training call. He went to events, read a lot of books. He said he avoided the real problem "me, myself & I." This process continued for over four years resulting in no money, no down line and no success.
Mike Figured Out Something Important
Mike figured out that if he got 5-10 people a day to contact him every day, he would have it made. He says you can peruse or be pursued. How do you get people to pursue you?
In his 20's he ended up making $350,000 in 7 days. Mike was soon known for his attraction marketing and lead generation skills.
Mike Says Attraction is Not a Choice
To quote Mike "it's a biological/instinctual trigger that evolved years ago to help keep you alive, which is usually why it's never consciously understood or perceived by people until they start to study it."
When people are in a group, they will follow a leader until they gain enough experience and confidence to become a leader themselves. Mike goes on to explain that the leader is usually the strongest physically and mentally, usually referred to as the Alpha. The group usually looks to him for protection. This was passed down from generation to generation.
People will find you attractive or unattractive. If you see someone you know in a picture or on FB with a well-known marketer, wouldn't you think to yourself this is a great person to know? I would. In order to make it in networking or life you must show the qualities of a leader.
"People Do Not join a business, They Join You"
Mike says there are three categories of people in life. That is Alpha, Pre-Alpha, and Betas. This translates to mean Leader, up and coming leaders and of course the followers.
I used worry about what people thought of me and wonder if they were judging me etc. I have been learning from some great marketers and I realized I do not feel like that any longer. Mike gave me the explanation that made me understand what happened. The category I am in is not determined by others, it was my personal beliefs about myself. This was my "frame" or state of mind.
You will have to struggle a bit to get yourself from the follower, to the up and coming leader and then to the leadership position. He mentioned the fake till you make it thing everyone says. You must believe you can do this. You will have to do affirmations and change some of your behaviors.
Behavior of the Beta, Pre-Alpha and Alpha in Marketing
The Beta is has very little confidence and is uncomfortable at the thought of being a leader. Their lack of success is usually someone else’s fault. To quote Mike “The primary difference between Pre-Alphas and Betas are that the Pre-Alphas have the vision, courage, and the willingness to lead themselves through adversity and challenge. If you cannot lead yourself through struggles, how can you expect others to eventually follow you?”
• Full of self confidence and are focused
• Love their bodies and love themselves
• Radiate loads of energy
• Do what they have to do to get where they want to go.
Mike gave Donald Trump as an example of an Alpha. Donald does not answer ignorant questions or disrespect; he gives the answer to the question that should have been asked in the first place.
When you become an Alpha networker, people will want to be associated with you as you showed the value. They will automatically follow you. Mike says this is the foundational concept of magnetic sponsoring.
