Glamour has a way of turning heads. Stars and clothes have a symbiotic relationship. The two need each other in more ways than one.

As the Wills India Fashion Week got off to a spectacular start in New Delhiaudience were in for treat of the most glamourous kind.
Top designers whose works are sported by the crème de la crème of Indian glamour world, be it in films, sports, fashion world or even politics were out in full force to showcase their ware in Delhi.
Let’s talk Ritu Kumar first. Known as the revivalist of Indian fashion, she has always endeavoured to present ancient traditions of Indian craftsmanship in a contemporary and new garb. Her clothes reflect that heritage clothed in modern times look.
India is about colour. Bright colours. Ritu Kumar’s collection on Day 1 showcased bright orange and burnt yellows and gradually gave away to purples, deep maroons and black. Western cuts and Indo western designs were seamlessly integrated with traditional embroidery. On display were slacks with long tops and Kurti-style tops.
There was Satya Paul with his vibrant hues. And he had Bollywood for company. Fresh from her Fashion success, model turned actress Mugdha Godse draped herself in stunning sarees. There was simmer, glamour, tastefully done skin show and sarees draped to appeal to the international audience.
The highlight of the Satya Paul show definitely was THE SAREE.
Rocky S, the man whom Bollywood hotties Hrithik Roshan and Mallaika Arora Khan trust, went metallic this season. Black, steel and metallic silver it was all the way.
As is his usual style, audience got to see experimentation but within his broad framework of neat straight cuts.
Day 2 (at the time this article went online), would have seen the newest sensation of Bollywood, the Slumdog Millionaire’s tiny stars Rubina and Azhar walk the ramp.
Dressed in Ashima-Leena collection they would have charmed the Delhiaudience with their innocence and gumption. Clearly, ‘slum’ is no hindrance to dreaming big.
Other big names in design world to showcase their collection Kavita Bhartia, Priyadarshini Rao (young and promising), Rajesh Pratap Singh and Bollywood's golden boy, Manish Malhotra.
And on Day 3 look out for these designers--Nikki Mahajan, Namrata Joshipura
and Manish Arora.
Nikki Mahajan's works are known for being saturated with colours, rich with textures burrowed from past civilisations, ornamented with distinctly usual pieces of raw materials in simple styles.
Namrata Joshipura’s signature philosophy is in minimalism. But it infused with colour and detail and has an organic feel to it. That’s a beautiful way of blending the richness of the orient with the minimalism of the occident.
