What events do Indians like?

I was wondering why most Indians confine them selves to limited outdoor activities or events? I feel majority of Indians confine their choice of events to few select things like Movies, Cricket, Watching TV, Eating out, and Shopping? Undoubtedly there is a small percentage who love to attend theatre, music concerts, art shows, fine arts & other sports, however it is limited to hard core fans only.

Is it primarily driven by economics or lack of proper infrastructure or is it lack of good quality events or lack of proper marketing & promotion platform for these events?

We at buzzintown are trying to create a unified platform for event industry, I would love to hear your views and any thoughts on events in India?
