Entry 1: What Your Parents Had to Say About Video Games. . .
Entry 1: What Your Parents Had to Say About Video Games. . .
The time is: 4:00pm, Sunday, May 04, 2008 -
I wanted to invite everyone back to a period of time in their childhood, together, with me, for the first time -- in a long time in the X years we have occupied this beautiful Earth.
A time when the Magic of the World was overwhelming.
A time when the Magic could not be supressed, no matter how strong or absolute the power of a particularly supreme authoritative figure could not defeat.
I am not talking the police, the government, or even God.
I am talking about the Magic, that not even your very own Parents could crush!
That Magic was Video Games. The way they captured our hearts. Cultivated our spirits into becoming the all intuitive, all imaginative, all too awesomely hand-eye coordinated, all creative beings that we are today.
The Magic that kept us fed with little to no food or rest. Yes that Magic is Video Games.
-Casual or Hardcore.
-Young or Old.
-Weak or Strong.
-Man or Female
-Any Religion
-Any Race
-Any Geographic Location
-Any Gender
-And many, many, many more inexhaustible barriers that kept human kind from working, cooperating or participating together. . .
Video Games destroyed all of those barriers, and was there, and forever will be with us.
However, there was one strong, home hitting comment, that im sure every being on the face of the planet may or may not have experienced, direct or indirect. Many a parent has whispered the most blasphemic of all terminology that could ever pour forth from the lips of humankind.
Those words will forever be framed as the motivation I now use to fuel my future, my destiny, our destiny, the worlds universal, and future destiny.
That. . . .
"Nothing good, will ever come out of video games" - The Parent of Every Gamer.
Circa: 19XX the Dawn of Video Games.
My background, my lifeblood, my entire spiritual, and universal being has always been tied in someway shape or fashion into video games. Just as many of you have also. My neighborhood was practically born, and built with the Nintendo Entertainment System Controller in our hands, at birth.
How this tiny, phenomenal little variable made it into my life, to become what it is today. Many have witnessed its explosive growth on so many levels. Everything from "Pong" to "Super Mario Brothers" to what we have now in terms of Video Games is just a tiny fraction of what is now, and what will become.
Video Games every ability to latch on to the human spirit, and allow for unprecedented creativity, to reaching other people in the entire universe, on top of being a profound tool for "communication" which just so happens to be the smallest unit of all cellular survival. ( Think Talking )
We already know that we are social creatures. Where are video games taking us? How will they effect our lives, and economy? How can we be included? All of these things are being answered today. Many people now have the ability to take advantage of these new found evolutions right now, being given to you in this blog.
-Rewinding the Tape and Reflecting on my Personal History With Video Games and How They Turned My Ideas Into a 5.4 Million Dollar Idea.-
Anyone familiar with my history should be able to verify that I have been a monster in video games in my own right. A lot of people have.
My gaming history all started with my next door neighbor B.J. Prout. The first of all my childhood to own a Nintendo Entertainment System. His dad absolutely spoiled this cool kid.
Within that social network, I was introduced to my very first game.
-The Legend of Zelda
1986: I was about 5 years old at this time, and took no time in becoming immersed, infatuated, in love, tied to the very growing phenomenon that we have today. Killing The Rock Spitting Octopus, chasing down baddies to rescue Princesses became common place. I played absolutely every popular title known to our universe.
Though, it was through Zelda that I was introduced to the Role Playing Scene.
RolePlaying Games are by far my genre of choice, and genre of recommendation by understanding the single unitary gaming platform in which you are forced to read or fail.
Thus setting the stage for lexiconial growth, understanding, manipulation and application. It is through reading only that you learn to .... read more, and more proficiently.
Even in turn learning how to be a good writer. Though, I cannot vouche for grammar and sentence structure. As witnessed in my blogs :)
But that is ok. I can live without it.
As time allowed, Final Fantasy, and the entire SquareSoft Empire was introduced into my life, which lead to a more deeper scale, and form of RolePlaying games to enter my universe.
It is through them that I truly learned the value of people, social networking, and the ability of championing ones own vision through others. When nothing could be done alone.
1999: You're in the Army Now.
The United States Army February 4th, 1999 was by far a great experience looking back on it, and its support in helping design my current lifestyle. Filled with discipline, responsibility, and all that fun criteria. However, I am not here to promote the United States Army. I am here to promote my drive, and how it pertains to video games.
When I first joined the United States Army. Upon completing the Basic Training program. Like any other soldier, I was provided with my first 30 day leave, which upon returning back to Providence, Rhode Island. I was able to re-link with my very first hero. B.J. Prout, and Family...
--He Did It Again--
Not only did he have me hooked on Diablo, and other online games... He introduced me to... EverQuest. Otherwise known as EverCrack.
I won't take too much time in explaining how "awesome" of a game that is, or how "infamous" I became in the gaming world, and sometimes.. "famous" once I learned how to be a better person. That is a story for another time. Im sure it can be found all over the internet anyway :)
Im proud of all the positives, and explicitly proud of all my negative adventures as they had helped me to grow as a person, a sentient in our universe, and much much learning to be had in all of our experiences.
I was able to develop a strong Guild Leaders Mentality, and Psychology after having dealt with many successful guilds, having been a member, an officer, and a full blown leader.
Anyone that has been involved in the MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online Gaming) Scene can tell you that being a Guild Leader is no simple, non-bearing task. It is the pits, in many instances. Being a full time baby sitter of the masses in an online gaming community.
Organizing and holding together mass raids together for hours on end. Your equivalent of being a CEO in a company where you hold meetings of 40 or greater people / players in this case. To accomplish a goal.
Knowing that one miniscule miscalculation, or error could of wasted 10+ Man Hours for all 40+ of those people. That is guild leading.
The kicker was that you "never got paid for any of it" It was all done out of " fun" and that was ok!
The premise of having fun, is what is driving video games. Along with what is giving big online gaming companies like IGE their monetary empire. You shouldn't be left out, when it means that using games can create you enough income to feed a country!
So how is it done? Where do you find it?
How do you become an entrepenurial spirited being such as myself that was able to take apart the game of World of Warcraft to come up with the "RaidExperience" which entailed bringing together the people who wanted to raid so bad that they would of paid $200.00 Per Raid, resulting in a little over $600.00 Dollars a raid, multiplied by so many raids totaling 5.4 Billion Dollars (something of mine in a notebook, that I was able to get infront of Bill / Thott -- Thottbot.Com -- who then lead me to Jonathan Yantis, etc etc.. )
None of this is neccessary in todays world. Right now exists an online Arcade that both YOU and I can play. Challenging you to beat me? Stephen Allen Sykes Jr.
A way to set up tournaments between others with cash prizes, and much much more - Everyone here knows and has experienced the power of "Arcades" and how that little .25cents you would spend in a gaming environment could easily, and happily turn into $20.00 or more. Now let this enter your mind on a more Global Scale, and come play me at my Arcade for fun, cash prizes or simply open your own.
More of this can be learned through me via MySpace if you would just like to talk to me in IM to find out how it all works. I do offer free consultation, and am more willing to educate you and be your friend then show you this oppurtunity all together :)
Thank you for taking the time to read about "our universe"
Sincerely,
Stephen Allen Sykes Jr.
