When sitting on the nail is better than prospecting
I used to go to network marketing conventions quite often to catch up on events - you know, product launches, networking, and then the recognition and awards ceremonies...
I don't do that so often now...
How many times have I looked at all the success stories of network marketers on stage who have made it - the "Hall of Famer", "Rock Star", "Mover and Shaker", "The One!"
Each and every one of them has their rags-to-riches story, about not giving up, about not letting go, about risking everything they owned.
Some moved me to tears, some are awe inspiring and some are just plain in-your-face.
It makes my blood boil and turns me into a downward spiral of anger and depression.
Was that supposed to motivate me?
"It's your attitude!" some say, "Your personality," said others, and they then walk away...
I need therapy - truckloads of it!
The Guru's say "You are responsible - You attracted all of it - yes - ALL OF IT!"
And so for 12 years I've been onto every book, tape and course I could find on self-improvement and the results do show - I'm _slightly_ better off than I was without them tools 12 years ago.
Now what?
Why am I still sitting on that nail?
What's in that convoluted, booby-trapped maze within this body that's still holding me back?
Genetics? Nah...
Environment? Hmm....
More like 30 years of conditioning. Family, relatives, well intentioned friends...
Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of rejection, paralysis by analysis.
Tony Robbins once told of a story, paraphrased - "In order to retune a piano, the piano tech has to come in and condition the strings in the piano regularly until it goes back to its full potential."
Today, 12 years in the tuning with all the tools available, at a small fortune, I am down to two components to master:
1. Action - Do it! Do it! Do it! Just god***n do it!
2. Discipline - Do #1 above - EVERYDAY! Quit screwing around!
That's my life in a nutshell...*sob*
