Morning Routines to Keep "Bad Days" Away
About a week ago I had a rare experience that left me saying by mid-afternoon, “I shouldn’t have got out of bed today” . I say it’s a rare experience as I don’t normally have “bad days”. In fact, most nights I fall asleep feeling accomplished and relaxed. So what happened last week that lead to me experiencing such an awful day?
After looking back at that moment in time and the moments leading up to that day, I’ve come to believe that my decision not to follow my morning routine resulted in that outcome. For some reason, for three days I did not preform my morning routine and on the third day I felt the repercussions.
I am still feeling the after effects of that awful day so I’d like to share with you what morning routine I use to keep ‘bad days’ away.
- Stretches & Affirmations: I intend to get involved in yoga, but for now simple stretches work fine for me. Nothing too strenuous but enough to wake the body up and prepare it for another active day. While preforming my morning stretches I listen to the affirmations that I have recorded for myself. Simply pop on my headphones (as the rest of the family still sleeps) and press play on my iPhone as I say them. I find the reverse affirmation works best. More on that in another post. If you can't wait go ask Mike Dillar.
- 20-30 Minutes of Cardio: (starting in the New Year)
- Meditate: I am currently testing different techniques to mediate with, however for the most part I spend the first 5 minutes calming the mind and enjoying being in the now. From there I like to spend approximately 5 minutes feeling my beliefs with my heart and another 5 minutes visualizing the day ahead of me.
- Gratitude: I spend a few minutes writing down and feeling all the things that I am grateful for in my life. In my mind or aloud I say, “I am so happy and grateful…” and list everything that I am currently feeling. There are a few people that get mentioned each day, however my gratitude excerise changes from day to day.
This routine has puts me in harmony with that that is likened to me (Law of Attraction). The outcome is a peaceful harmonious day. The day that I did not follow this routine, I must have not slept well because I woke up feeling extremely exhausted and quickly turned of the alarm on my phone without even thinking about it. The next thing I know I am jumping out of bed in a panic because I am hearing my daughter screaming.
I truly believe that I am the co-creator of my life and when I chose not to follow my morning route, I gave my power to create away. I left it up to chance for a few days and Murphy’s Law prevailed. I’ve been experiencing good days for such a while that I took it for granted the power of my morning routine.
One other thing I like to do which isn’t really a part of my morning routine; is that I complete a few work task before the family wakes up, but I like to greet them in the morning with a big smile and a cheerful “Good Morning!“ This did not happen that morning due to the fact that I turned my alarm off and when right back to sleep. Again, my choice and I take responsibility for the events of that day!
This is a process I learned from Rich German at www.RichGerman.com.
It is recommended that you find a partner or two that will help keep you accountable with your morning routine. I would like to par-take in this with others. Anyone care to join me?

Great Article Rasheed
I like the way you think. I believe the morning is my best time to get things accomplished. Usually with a cup of coffee and a pop-tart!
My thoughts are usually clearer earlier in the day before all of the distractions of the phone, email, and whatever else usually starts popping up....
Thanks Rasheed.
