The Six Step Process To Success In Goal Setting
It does not take a mastermind to tell you what you want. You do not have to go through any extensive spiritual or physical training to find out what your dreams are. Often times you know what you want, you just do not know how to get there, or what to do to go about chasing your dreams.
You do not want to be like the man who tried to sail the Atlantic not knowing the dangers of the sea, not having the tools for the job, and not being prepared for the journey. To get to where you want to be, you first have to map out where you want to end up. Then, you have to chart a clear course, be prepared for pitfalls along the way, and bring along the tools for the task. Follow this six step process to success in your goal setting, and you will be six steps ahead of most of your peers.
Set your objective in writing
The first step is to put what you want into writing. If you have always wanted to be a successful musician, and have the skills, have you really thought about what you want specifically? Maybe you always wanted to be famous, but have you thought about what it is you really want? After you write it down, it may turn out to be something different from what you originally thought.
Convince yourself of the benefits
List the benefits. Sell yourself on those benefits. Tell yourself that your goals are worth achieving. Once you are convinced, you are ready for the next step.
Find allies
You are not alone in your goals. If you want to be a successful musician, a music teacher, school, or e-learning platform can help you achieve some of your goals. Make a list of the people and organizations that can help you fulfill your dreams. Consider these your tools for success.
List the pitfalls
You do not build a tower without considering the costs. Take a look at the realistic pitfalls along the way. This is not meant to discourage you, but to prepare you for the dangers you will face along your journey.
Break it down to bite sized goals
Now you have a well-defined dream, a list of allies, a list of benefits, and a list of pitfalls. Next, you are going to have to break down your goal into bite sized goals. If you bite off more than you can chew, you will end up spitting it all out in the end.
Set a time frame
Once you have planned out the course to success, you can create a time frame. When do you want to celebrate success? Look over your plan and calculate when will be a realistic time frame. Set the date. Now all that is left to do is raise a toast! You have completed the six step process to success!
