Rap is Affirmations!
Rap music is affirmations! I know- I've seen what happens to the people who listen to a certain kind. Growing up in inner city Houston, I have observed that the youngsters I grew up with who constantly listened to music about drug dealing ended up 'slangin dem stones' later in life.
Those who constantly listened to music that glorified prison life ended up living a 'glorious' lifestyle. I could talk about countless examples. The messed up part is that many that I went to school with are still listening to those crappy affirmations and thus still living out the crappy life of drug dealing gangster shoot 'em up bang bang stuff. Ridiculous!
You know the sad part? They're in their thirties! (I'm chuckling in disbelief, shaking my head). They're not growing up. Why? It's the music playing in their head.
But do you know the interesting part? I know of some who have changed their choice of music and you know what? Their life changed along with it. One particular case provides an excellent example of what I'm talking about. I won't give too much details because some of you could probably find out who I'm talking about by searching the social networks.
There's a guy who used to used to hang with a group of guys - there were about 5 in the bunch. I know what happened to 4 of them. One of them was killed in an attempted robbery. Never saw his 18th birthday, nor did he see the birth of his daughter that was born a few months later. What about the other 3?
Well, two of them have a page on one of the social networking sites. One of them jokes about drug dealing activity and implies that that is his job. The other flashes weapons and has 'how to' instructions on how to make dope - or something - I didn't want to see the rest of the video to find out. It was very unsettling. I'm not going back to their page to find out - but I think both of them featured that crappy rap music on their site.
But one of the 4 has gone in an entirely different course. And do you know what his favorite music is? Jazz. In fact, he's an up and coming jazz musician who's starting to perform in concerts with some recognized names. He's also very active in his family life (he's got wife and kids now). Happy ending.
So let me just get right to the point. If you’re here, you’re probably familiar with the power of affirmations. If not, might I recommend the books by Shad Helmsetter, What To Say When You Talk To Yourself and also Self Talk Solution. There’s another book by Robert Anthony as well called, Beyond Positive Thinking. Excellent read - (although I do think some of the things he says are a little off, but, that’s just me).
Music, songs, lyrics are powerful. There is a wise saying that goes, "The power of life and death are in the tongue." I agree completely with that. And I know that if those words are true, then these words that I am saying right now must be true - "The power to create the lifestyle you want is in your tongue."
The lyrics in music matters. Lyrics are a definite form of affirmations. And since the words create a visual picture and since the melody itself inspires emotion and since it rings in your head repetitively even after the song is finished playing...
A SONG IS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL AFFIRMATIONS THERE IS.
So, think about the potential impact the right kind of songs could have in your life.
Right now in this post, I have a song for you that affirms some time-tested wealth building principles. I intend to have musical affirmations about different subject matter in the future. It's mostly a hobby for me right now, so, don't expect too much. But I really do like doing this. I could probably do this for a living. Perhaps making customized detailed affirmation songs for people upon request. I don't know.
But, for now I'll just keep giving away my art until something hits me. I'm on another project anyway.
You’ll find also that the affirmations I have are in the form of rap. Why rap? Well, for one thing, I like a challenge. Who hears of positive rap these days? And just like network marketing - there's nothing wrong with it. It's just that you may get better results depending on how you do it. It's the words that make it crap.
I have some other reasons too that I explain in my videos. But, don’t get me wrong. I would like to get around to doing other types of music as well. Seriously.
But I think rap is a good place for me to start for now. I intend to have different varieties of rap as well.
I like to refer to rap as two basic varieties when it comes to the basic flow of it. You got the ‘champagne’ variety because you can feel the fizz. And you got that ‘uppity fine wine’ variety that you might not mind listening to at a jazz club. Now, don’t get too excited. My raps might suck.
But, here’s the up-side: I’m sure you’ve had sucky songs stuck in your head before. At least these songs have some positivity. Hey, that’s all I got. Moving on…
Another reason I chose rap is because it’s an easier transition from the spoken word. It’s about the closest thing to talking. So, it should be fairly easy for anyone to rap to them-self. One doesn’t have to worry about hitting the right note. All one has to do is focus on identifying with the words.
And when I do get to some singing parts on my tracks (…coming soon), you’ll probably be able to sing those parts. I tend to keep the notes in such a range that anyone can do it. But feel free to do your own thing and have fun with it. Hey, I might try some crazy stuff myself and post it on this site one day for you all to hear.
Here is the link so that you can go straight to the downloads: www.RapSolution.com. Later I'll put the downloadable instrumentals up so that you can rock it with your own 'flava'.
Rock On!

Ok first of all wow.
I don't even know what to type. You really have a rap song. LOL. Reason I say that is because sshh....I'm a rapper too. And you are right...rap music is sorta affirmations when you have and WANT a relation to it. The choice of rap music also is important. I don't really care for the super drug music, i like more of the flashy life rap music. Because it pumps me up to get there. But back to your songs....I was really suprised to hear them. You weren't playing...I thought this was just going to be bashing rap and I was going to say otherwise but you actually are tyring to make a change. I recorded a track of my own extremely powerful affirmations but I wrote the song for my own use. I have been trying to get it uploaded here but I just can't find the time. I just may have to do so now.
This is Very Rare
Roy,
This is some powerful stuff. I've been rapping on and off for years. And you're 10000% right about the affirmations in rap. But it's the same in all music.
Music is the most powerful form of communication that there is. That's why we always get songs stuck in our heads (even the bad ones that we can't stand but just keep listening to).
On another note. I'm a big fan of people doing what they want to do. Granted, if it's not right they WILL pay the consequences. But everyone has a CHOICE to make. I can only affect those that want to be affected.
And lastly, I think it's time that I plugged up my headset and recorded a quick verse. I think I might even still have some written stuff laying around.
Thanks for the motivation.
