What should you be watching for when prospecting for your Buisness Opportunity?
You should be watching for the ratio’s. If you don’t know what I’m talking about read on it will save you much heart ache and discouragement.
Prospecting for your business opportunity becomes easier when you understand the ratio’s, particularly if you have had to resort to or are using mailing lists, paid leads or ads don’t get discouraged because not everyone wants to join. There are a lot of curiosity seekers who sign up for information or to win a prize not really appreciating that they are soon to get a call from someone like you who is intent on getting a return for their investment….. that translates “sign ups” into your primary business.
Let’s look at an example of a 100 leads on a mailing list [because it's easy to do the maths]. The biggest mistake you can make is trying to convince ALL 100 to join your business. What you are actually looking for is the few people out of the 100 that you can have a relationship with and could work with successfully.
So you start cold calling your list and out of the 100 people this will be the likely outcome.
- 30 of them you’ll not be able to reach or talk to. You may get their answer machine or service; or their phone is disconnected
- 10 that you speak to will likely say they never answered an ad they’re not interested and don’t know how they got on the list and never to phone them again!!
- 30 that you speak to say they are “not interested” ; maybe they don’t like the sound of your voice; or maybe things have changed in their lives since they gave their information - perhaps they got a raise or new job with more pay
- 20 are likely to be brochure collectors or people you just don’t know how to say “NO I’m not interested” and say to you “Please send me your information pack just to get you off the phone
- 10 that you speak to will be worthwhile building a relationship with and do some follow up with and send your information pack to.
That is why it is a huge mistake to try and convince or mail all 100 leads.
When you understand and appreciate the ratio’s you will quickly sort through the 100 to find those 10 that you can build a realationship with and find out if they are someone you want to spend a lot of time with. They are the only ones who should be getting your information pack, which means you’ll save a stack of money. They are also the only ones who should be getting the focus your valuable time.
