When I designed websites, they wouldn't take me that long. So, why is mine taking that long? Why is my capture page, blog I am designing taking longer?

It is because I am not designing just a website, a page or a blog anymore. Words matter. From a designer perspective, we can forget this and let our ego get in the way and do pretty websites.

This headline alone just caught you to read this part of the blog. This is why I am not just designing a page. Here's what I am doing right now;

1. I have worked on different types of headliners. Headliner is what you see above you in bold. In this alone, is a question which has got your mind to suddenly go a bit haywire and stop to read. The headline gives not just a give, but a curious factor, and then at the end, the solution in which you will find.

The more I read into copywriting, the more I need to not only understand about the profile or target traffic, but how the people think. How I think.

So, The Problem which is getting to know what people think, what your target profile wants, who are they, how to get them to come and stay on your website. And to engage them to act and submit, and buy. Then they are curious and they want to know the solution because I said, "Will increase your traffic," in the header

2. I have sat with my wife and we're sitting down more because I want to know the questions women have about skin. For example, I come out with these headings:

How Can I Take Care Of My Skin Without Using Chemical Based Products

Now I didn't think this works well but maybe it does. It can be a very touch subject but with some fine tuning I can get it to say it in a different way and still say the same thing.

I will use this after refining it and split test it. Meaning, I will create another page and use that header and see what it does. I will include it as a sub heading in other page too, and see what works.

Here's a good one becaue I know from what my wife said from asking other women, that this question works;

"Is the different choices of Skin Care Products Driving You Crazy?"

Walk into a shop, a store, those big shops, and you see LOTS of CHOICES and you don't know which one to go for. That goes for mens as well.

Now I know I can fine tune all of them which I will but it is a start for me to really get something down on paper. Notice I am focusing more on copy not on designing a layout. This is where I went wrong years ago. I am glad I am figuring things out fast and put a lot of hours in studying and making sure, I don't waste time.

3. The next thing I am working is the copy regarding the body text. The part which gives the story, and it has to be genuine, true, as though we are speaking to the person. Now, some will discuss the length or shorter is better.

For me it is irrelevant because it's not about length. It's about me saying what needs to be said and is it enough. Have I got the Message through? That now gets rids of which is best because I put the person I am targeting at first.

I will know by split testing the pages. It's the only way for me to be sure. I need to find out a lot more but I am not willing to second guess things. If I am going to put any adverts out there, I need a strategy and know why, what and how.

4. Tomorrow, I start to lay out the page so I can begin to upload to the site and begin the hard, smart work. I never really thought that doing something like this take a lot of THINKING power. It really is a science.
