I always share this story to illustrate the point on one of the most important tools for creating a sales funnel system..

The number one challenge for almost every Network Marketer is not having a strategy. This comes due to the lack of business owner mindset.

Always looking for the magic bullet.

Yes, yes, I know there's the challenges with generating endless...

  • Cash
  • Leads

I'm more focusing on strategy and we'll look at these two further ahead.

If you haven't built a business from the ground up, then it is going to be difficult knowing exactly what strategy to have in place.

And if you're looking for a magic bullet, then you're focusing on the wrong place. It will only get you running in a wheel, like a hamster to think you're going somewhere.

Instead, when you stop, you find you're worse off and in the same place where you started. Frustrated, overwhelmed and the focus towards sustainability direction is lost.

So where do you begin?

Let me share with you, where you don't start from because if you start this way, you will always try to think of 'what shall I write on my blog?'

When I met John Walker, he had a lot of questions but I had to ask questions first to identify the true obstacles.

john walkerThe how is not important in the beginning. What is - is the reason why. In asking you will find that most Network Marketers do not have a strategy because there is no purpose.

And I didn't either 12 years ago. We all start somewhere. We all learn from someone and most of us are smart enough to learn from a mentor who is a specialist. 

So I'd ask questions, qualify first and then communicate and share knowledge to John Walker to eliminate any myths regarding marketing.

Here's where the confusion happens for almost every Network Marketer who starts thinking of developing their own sales funnel system.

There is a difference between:

  • Marketing Strategy
  • Marketing Plan
  • Strategic Planning

People start off by mixing marketing plan with marketing strategy. So let's get these out of the way very briefly.

Marketing Strategy
Your marketing strategy is the story. It focuses on the needs of your target audience. It is you knowing how you're going to satisfy your customer needs.

Before this happens you must 100% be true to yourself first.

You must start by knowing what you're goals are, the objectives, why you're doing what you're going to do and where you want to be.

In doing so, you will know your purpose, which will lead to what business you want to be in, what company you like to join, and why.

This will lead to what interests you the most in the products of a company or what you want to create.

This is why, before I even asked questionsto  people I mentor on product, service - I asked about their purpose, their story, what is the most interesting thing they are in, they like to focus on.

What's their level of skill, what's their personality, what's their passion, what they want to achieve in life and then in the business they are in or want to be in?

What's the person's strengthes and weakness? What have the person invested on within knowledge, mentorship, business skills, sales and prospecting skills?

Next, I'll ask the the following and give tasks which is what I did with John Walker:

  • Who is your audience are?
  • What are your target audience immediate primary needs?
  • What's their other challenges, problems, needs they desire to solve?
  • What's their occuppation?
  • What's your audience income level?
  • Where do they buy from at this moment?
  • Why do they buy from these companies?
  • Where do they hang around online?
  • What tools do they use online?
  • Why should they trust you?
  • Why will they buy from you?
  • What's so unique about what you have?

The...story which satisfies your prospects curiousity.

I know from what I'm asking, can be daunting because the next question will always be..

"How the heck do I find the answers? Where do I begin online to gather the information which we call business Intelligence."

The same way Facebook does. You see facebook to many is social media tool. I see facebook as data agency.

It gathers information and in doing so, it knows a lot about people's buying habits, social life, location and so much more.

So what I have done, is created a step by step task training showing what to do and I guided John Walker to do these steps.

What Is the Difference Between A Marketing Plan And A Marketing Strategy?
The marketing plan are the actions you apply online to attract leads, prospects to generate enquiries, capture leads, lead to the sales funnel you've built.

Your marketing plan has a compelling and consistent message throughout each stage.

From the moment your prospect sees your website on Google when they searched, or an article on a forum, or the moment they land on your landing pages, sales letter or blog.

The message must provide proof through testimonials, evidence of result and branding which is what people are saying about you, your delivery, your ethics, your products, the quality.

Instead of you just saying it.

The amazing part of your marketing plan is not these...

  • Video Marketing
  • Article Writing
  • Forum Marketing
  • Back Linking
  • Seo
  • PPC

Yes, they are awesome but the real secret is...

Being able to test and measure, results. To be able to increase your results for sales.

Focusing always on RESULTS and in getting these results you'll know what works and what doesn't - to do more of what works!

Results = SALES.

Yes, there are other results like getting more subscribers, more comments, more optins and so forth - but it must then lead to the conclusion.

Selling your product. Profit. Money.

And sponsoring.

And generate other means of Cash Flow to pay for advertising because doing what is FREE can take sometime, especially when your blog is new.

What's the Difference Between Strategic Planning and Marketing Plan?
Marketing Strategic Planning is you having a purpose and each move is helping your company to move towards the overal purpose and vision of your company.

It's like a chess game. You're opponent sees you move a a pawn but you already planned 10 steps ahead. You also planned how to move if these 10 steps are obstructued and lead your company to grow, accelerate and win.

The questions you will ask are really the same as what I mentioned in the beginning:

  • Where do I want to go?
  • Where am I right now?
  • How can I get to where I want the company to be?
  • How did I get to this stage or at thie point?
  • Am I on target and if not, then how can I get on target?
  • Am I on course with the vision of my company and if not, why and how to fix it?

This is where Vision comes into play.

After the few weeks with John on skype, personal messages, emails back and forth, he realised one thing. It was time renew his purpose, his business goals and the direction he was going in.

It was going to take work and I said that from day one.

He had a lot of work to do but he was happy about what he was doing now.

He found his true purpose, doing what he loves and most of all, he has direction. John Walker began gathering the information, doing the market research.

Through each step he began answering the questions I've shared with you. Ever so slightly, I'd  nudged him here and there on where to look.

Always keeping in touch because as a mentor, you know what the obstacles are. You know when they are going to appear and you guide.

Helping the entrepreneur to avoid the pot holes that most people fall in.

If you read to here, then congratulations. Hardly anyone would but you're not just anyone. You're a rising leader.
