2011 Canadian Timer Wolf MS70 AnACS 1 Ounce Silver,
The Royal Canadian Mint announces the first in a new linited edition series of Canadian wildlife silver coins.
These coins enjoy an inprecedented demand throughout the world.
This 1 ounce .9999 pure silver coin features a stunningly detailed portrait of a lone timber wolf surveying huis domain. This beautiful but fierce predator is pictured standing on a snow covered slope with tall snow-capped pines in the backgorund, while the full moon overhead illiminates this distinctly Canadian scene.
The Canadian Timber Wolf is the first coin in a 3 year, 6 coin Canadian wildlife series. The Royal Canadian Mint's Ottawa facility is expected to introduce 2 annual issuse through 2014. Wolves are a popular theme, and as such, this coin was selected to be the lead-off coin in this very limited edition wildlife series. The Royal Canadian Mint has placed a strict and low mintage on these coins, and the next issue in this series is not expected to be released intil March 2011.
Senior Mint Engraver William Woodruff is the creator the wolf design on the reverse. The obverse is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth ll, which was done by Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt. Struck from 1 ounce of 99.99% pure silver, this coin bears a face value of $5.00.
