Needed Change for the travel Professional


I am a Travel Industry Professional. I recently became involved with Internet Marketing. I love helping people and learning new things. I am a retired Airline Person with 36 Years of Marketing and operations experience. My goal is to help as many people as possible realize the full potential and possibilities of the American dream, by utilizing technology and exploiting the “Technology Gap”.

Paul Zane Pilzer, in his book “Unlimited Wealth” describes a process of creating wealth through a system he calls, “economic alchemy”. Very simply put, it is a better way of doing something that’s already developed and on the "shelf" but not yet implemented on a wide scale.
Mike Dillard and his Attraction Marketing system is as brilliant an example of exploiting the “Tech Gap” as I have ever seen and I’m learning more and more every single day how best to use it and add value to others. This site is a perfect fit for me.

I believe the statement that the speed at which technology advances is a function of the speed at which we are able to exchange information. That being said the medium of exchange becomes paramount in how effectively we communicate with each other. And the means utilized to communicate is also very important

I am glad to become a part of a communication medium: (The Internet) that travels at the speed of light, has no physical borders or boundaries other than the ones in our own minds and imaginations.

The word is getting out, it is no longer enough just to maintain the status quo and measure your business
success by the competition. In today’s global environment, one has to create opportunities and find ways
To exploit the “Tech Gap”. The travel industry is in flux and under going a massive “Sea” change unlike any other Industry at the current time.

There are numerous reasons for this change and most are external to the industry itself. The events of September 11, 2001 for example, still have ramifications rippling throughout the entire world. But more specifically I want to address the plight of the Brick and Mortar travel agent in an Internet age.

First of all there is a great need on the part of the Travel Agent, especially the stand alone ones still standing, to make a cultural adjustment and then perhaps, with the right information and wiliness to
Change they can transition to the new age of marketing travel. Some needed paradigm shifts are in order:
1) Internet Technology and online booking engines.
2) Commissions versus Fee for Service
3) Servicing and keeping customers by delivering great service. Cannot
4) Rely on location and just being convenient anymore.
There are many, many more, the above are just a few of the needed cultural shifts mandated by a new age of marketing. Then too, nothing is static any more because of exploding technological innovations there seem to be enhancements every single day. What to do? How to keep up?.

A mere 100 years ago it took sixty years (three human generations) for a technological shift to mature and transition an Industry into a totally new way of doing its business. Today it takes 6 years (1/3 of a human generation) . That means before it took a father, son and grandson and entire lifetime to assimilate the subtly nuisances of a business innovation. But today we as individuals must absorb and adapt to a minimum of 10 technological shifts in whatever industry we are a part.

As incredible as that may sound it’s not the most amazing part of the scenario. The scary part is this: to be
Successful in business today the business professional must not only adapt to those changes and make the necessary adjustments to survive and to become profitable. But absolutely must have a system to cope with the astronomical, lighting quick changes.
