Black Belt Recruiting In Reverse – Essential Questions Every Upline Must Answer
Black Belt Recruiting provided a manner of being, a posture, and a valuable lesson in the psychological foundation that must be present for anyone to successfully prospect, sponsor and recruit.
These valuable lessons hold true on the opposite end of the spectrum. If you see the value in building your own network marketing business or are in-between network marketing opportunities, you will want to read this post about the process of recruiting your upline.
Many of the top network marketers teach to not advertise your company; your products; your compensation plan, but to advertise You Inc, and the valuable information that made You Inc.
Once you have identified your interests, and done your homework, you should have a short list of companies you’d like to work with. It's now time to start recruiting for the You Inc. you may want to work with.
When going into the “shopping process” for an upline, you should already know the answers to the following questions. Generally, the answers should be found at the company website.
You should already know the following:
1. Would I purchase this service or product even if I never made a dime with it, and What are the monthly costs? Will the product make a positive difference in the lives of those who use it?
2. Is this product or service currently in demand? Will it still be relevant in 3 -5 -10 years from now?
3. What, if any, are the sponsoring requirements to make money, or to max out the pay plan? What type of pay plan is this? (binary, matrix, unilevel)
4. How many people are needed in my group to be in profit?
5. How many people are needed in my group to make 1K a month/5K a month/10K a month?
Treat this like any other job interview or important decision. You must be responsible for finding out as much as you possibly can before spending someone’s time on the phone. No successful and respected business owner wants to answer questions that can simply be found at the company specific website.
With all the aforementioned out of the way, you can begin asking the questions that really matter. If there is one thing I have learned from Mike Dillard (among many other things), it’s that every opportunity has to be wielded and crafted the same. Fundamental business building is fundamental business building – no matter the opportunity.
With that said, you want to position yourself to be successful. Especially if you recognize your inexperience, perhaps your new, you must align yourself with someone who can provide you the opportunity to work to be successful. I’m not necessarily talking about duplication, I’m talking about a proper balance of valuable information and training + consistent action. It’s a partnership.
I titled this post Black Belt Recruiting In Reverse – Essential Questions Every Upline Must Answer because everything that is espoused within Black Belt Recruiting should be seen through the eyes of the person identifying the potential upline they’re seeking to work with.
Likewise, you should be strong, respectfully challenge your potential upline. If s/he cannot provide you with the answers you’re looking for, move on, find someone who does.
Some basic questions:
1. Does the company or your team provide marketing training, and if so, What kind of marketing training is taught to distributors? Do you provide a specific marketing plan to your downline?
2. Can someone build this business with no marketing budget? If so, how?
3. Are there any proven paid marketing methods that will give a predictable ROI (return on investment)?
4. What is a recommended marketing budget?
5. What other tools, training or systems will be needed for success, and how do these costs?
6. What sets this team apart from others within the company, if anything?
7. What is your availability shall I have questions or need assistance? How do you support your downline when it comes to growing a business?
It is important to interview your potential upline. If You have the determination to be successful, in the end, it probably won’t matter much, BUT it could be a determining factor in how long it takes to reach your goals.
Taking action ALWAYS works!
