The Principles of Christ
It's been a while since I've written anything on Better Networker, but after a conversation with my roommate, I thought the next few lines may benefit some people here.
Currently, I'm reading a book called "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. If you've been in Network Marketing, or any other self-employed business, you've probably heard of it. Well, when I picked up this book and started reading it, I was in awe.
"This is the greatest book on success I've ever read," I thought. "Wow, if people could just do what is said in this book, there wouldn't be a person in this world who wouldn't be wealthy! Why hasn't anyone else written about this subject with such impact."
Well, the answer is this: someone has...GOD!!! Boy, did I feel like a fool when that was spoken into my heart.
Romans 12:2 says "Do not be conformed by the customs of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of you mind, so that you may know that which is acceptable, and pleasing, and perfect will of God."
The NLT says instead of renewing your mind, to "change the way that you think."
The Word of God is the absolute truth and there's nothing it, when done as He commanded, that will cause a person anything but absolute success in life.
INTERUPTION: If you're reading this, and don't believe me, go to a book store, buy a Bible and read it in paralell with Mr. Hill's book, as well as everything else in it.
We live in a world where the negative is received more openly than the positive. The news is full of murders, robberies, and how the economy now stinks because gas is at $1.40 A GALLON?! (I always thought that was a GOOD thing!) You probablt grew up with people either telling you that you couldn't do something, there's no money doing what your passion is, or that you can do it...but in the back of your mind, don't believe that person, because they don't practice what they preached.
The principles in Mr. Hill's book are not new, heck, he even uses scripture to drive some of his points home. Even though some of the wording may seem cosmic, and New Age-like, the meat of this book are still GODLY principles that work with everyone.
Doesn't it seem funny that the world doesn't have the PERSON of Christ in their hearts, but they have the PRINCIPLES of Christ, causing them to succeed while Christians (in the majority) are the exact opposite? Listen to how many of us Christians talk! We have our rewards stored up in Heaven, but we're willing to suffer unneeded stresses on the way to get there!? Doesn't make sense. On the flipside, the world is enjoying multiple examples of success, but they have no salvation. WOW!!! Is anyone else getting this?
OK, I'm going to go now. If you're reading this, and want to comment, they're always welcome, but really think and research if what I'm saying is true or not. I need to get back to reading. I hope you all are having nothing but absolute success in life.

All I can say is AMEN!
Again...AMEN!
Paul, I'm happy to see that
Paul,
I'm happy to see that you were able to relate the word of God with this book. There are many authors out there that mimic the word of God to help get their points across and Mr. Hill has truly done so. What most don't realize is that everything you ever wanted to know about any subject in life is found in the bible, more than likely in both the Old & New Testaments at the same time.
We can all use the Holy Bible as your main source of knowledge and truly learn how to prosper. One of my other favorites is The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey, where he shows you in a practical sense how you change your lifestyle, through biblical based principles.
Let us all say AMEN.
Michael
Thanks...
Michael,
Thanks for the reference on Dave Ramsey's book. I actually listened to a few of his podcasts and there's a member of my church that's actually teaching the Total Money Makeover plan that Dave has (though I think it's called something else.) I'll have to check it out.
One of the things I'm reading about right now is servant leadership. Coming from a mindset where thinking the word "leader" meant a man that had everyone groveling at his feet, to feed his ego, it's refreshing to see some books out there that show you how to effectively lead (something which I am just learning about.) Actually, one Book has already talked about it, but sometimes I'm to ignorant to see it's all right in the Pages.
If you ever want to check some of those out, right now, I'm reading "The World's Most Powerful Leadership Principle" by James C. Hunter and I'll be starting "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" by John C. Maxwell.
Have a great weekend.
