Wendy Krick the Fish Farmer?

I started using Google alerts a while back. It helps to keep me up to date on topics that interested me. I learned from some fellow net workers that it’s a good idea to add your name to your alerts. I do this because I can see what others see when they Google my name.

Imagine my shock the other day when there was a new alert for Wendy Krick and there in black and white it reads…

I’ve worked in administration in the fish farm industry. Now, I work from home using my computer. The only accounting I do is my own. The only banking I do is my own. My kids come to my office every day with me. Being your own boss is great. -- Wendy Krick

My first instinct was to laugh because anyone who knows me would know this is totally erroneous. My second instinct was I was angry. I mean, the nerve of someone using my name and making up a testimony about me.

So I started to think this through and I recognized some of the other names and testimonies on the page and realized these were people that were doing Online Business Systems (Herbalife) with me 5 years ago. So I think what happened is that when OBS was posting an advertisement they were using testimonies of people that have used their system. I could live with that, but to use an erroneous testimony is just a little much.

So I contacted OBS and asked that they remove this fake testimony. I was told it would be taken care of but hasn’t been done yet.

So here is my question….

How do you know if a testimony on a website is real? If you think about it, anyone could write a testimony and just make up a name.

I would love to have your feedback on this.
