An Interesting Conversation…
I had an interesting and kinda weird conversation the other day with a guy I have known for about 5 years at a local coffee shop. He is the kind of guy who always has too much to do to get anything done. The guy who spends all of his hours working for minimum wage to go and spend all his money (and get in debt) with college classes that he has dropped out of more than once. I’m not bagging on him, it’s just the truth. He also has tried different network marketing opportunities, only to quit a month or two later. Well, the thing about the other day was, he came in the coffee shop with an attitude and the attitude was towards me! After asking him how things were going and getting even more attitude, I came to find out he was mad that he wasn’t making any money with the company myself and a friend were in. My friend signed him up with our company for FREE, that’s right it didn’t cost this guy a penny! So I asked him what he was doing to get people to sign up or sell the products… He said he passed out the brochures I gave him a week prior. I said “That’s it!?” That’s when I started to get a little mad. See, the thing was I only gave him about seven brochures! 7! He thought the money would be rolling in with 7 brochures! I asked him if he had taken the time to get on our “Team Only” discussion forum where we had a LOT of marketing techniques and info. He said “no”. Well the conversation was done after that, I wasn’t going to waste my time with a crybaby who wanted me to do all the work so he could make lots of money.
The reason I mention this story is we have to examine, why do people sign up with your opportunity? What are they thinking when they do? And why the heck do they drop out so fast?
It seems there are two kinds of people with two different kinds of mindsets. One has the right mindset of, they are buying a real business and they are going to treat it like one. They are going to invest the time, effort and money into learning how to do things the right way.
The other type of person isn’t buying a business, they are buying false hope. Their eyes light up when the see the flashy opportunity video, they think to themselves that they will hardly have to do anything and the money will be thrown at them. And if that’s the case why invest in their value? They just take their opportunity or “false hope” and make a hobby out of it.
This is why it’s import to examine ourselves first and make sure we are taking our business seriously and doing what it takes to possess the land. Then we have to be a little more picky about who we talk to about our opportunity.
