Be Bold…Be Brave…Live in the Now
I would like to share a story about a guy named “Norm“. I am sure you know him. Far from your average guy, happy to have finished college with a diploma and maybe a degree. Oh No, Norm is the guy with all of the degrees from the multitude of various colleges he has attended for any number of reasons. A very intelligent person by anyone’s standards…right. For him just putting on his shoes and socks is a ritual. This is the guy that when he puts his socks on he makes sure they are never worn on the same foot twice in a row ( so not to wear out the big toe area) and turns them inside out for even wear. He puts on one sock , one shoe at a time. Most of the world puts on sock , sock ,shoe , shoe. To each their ow
Now, just a bit of back ground on Norm. His wife left him, has remarried and has children with her new husband. He now lives ( for the last 10 yrs.) , temporarily in a dank ,dark, depressing little apartment. He thought about paining it and even knows what color. However, Norm claims he is waiting for the future to clarify itself enough so that he either fix up his apartment, move to a better place or back in with his wife and family….you know the one that is already remarried. But since Norm doesn’t come to hasty conclusions he has not quite wrapped his head around that fact yet.
But Norm figures if he paints the apartment, the carpet needs to be replaced, as do the curtains and of course the furniture must go. But if he is going to go through all of that why not get a better place. Then you have to hunt for one, sign a lease, change your phone number, address…..May as well buy a house. Then you have the bank and credit checks. And what happens if he falls in love. What if his new wife won’t like his new house, in the neighborhood with the crummy schools.
Better yet his first wife may realize she made a mistake, come back to him and now he is paying for the house for his second wife, tuition to private schools for his children from his second marriage. Before long Norm will be in need of therapy, and you know how expensive that is.
Norm’s view…. New paint in the crummy apartment could end up costing an arm and a leg. Sure Life is a risk. When the sun starts to die and gets so hot it turns the surface of the earth into boiling rock, his new house will burn, and his insurance money and the deposit money on the nonexistent children’s nonexistent private school will be down the drain. Included will be carpenter ants, inflation, depression, famine, floods,
and athlete’s foot.
See, Norm tries to live today and tomorrow and next week and next year and next decade and next century all at the same time.
So for all the Norm’s out there STOP IT !!!! Tomorrow may be changed by a choice you make today, but the world WILL NOT come to an end because of it.

Stop It!
Yes, we need to "get out of our way" and Stop it!
Great piece
~ME~
All we can do......
is live in the right now moment. Thank you for the reminder, Zelphina. It's something I need to tell myself daily.
Great Article!
It's easy to laugh at Norm, but a moment of reflection is healthy. I'm so glad that I'm committed to living my life with BOLDNESS, BRAVERY, and IN THE NOW. Thanks for this reminder, Zelphina!
Trying to live in the future...
can actually be disastrous. When you don't do things today because of what may happen tomorrow, you will be living the same boring day over and over, getting nowhere. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Zelphina
Wow, live in the NOW, what a concept!!
This Could Take A While
Hey Zelphina
I'm trying to find a certain word/s that could describe how powerful this post is. Zelphina your always posting great content and encouraging people with the right words at the right time.
God Bless
Thanks for the Great Support
Once again some knowledge gained from reading a great book. When we are given the advice to read self development books, we really never know what is on the next page to learn. So quickly becoming addicted !!
Stop any fear!
Ya know, sounds like Norm basically lives in FEAR. Wowzers! Let's be sure we all open our eyes and make sure we aren't living in fear, maybe not to the degree Norm is, but in other little ways. Yes, Zelphina, let's STOP IT! Thank you!
Norm is so normal
He fits right in with the rest of the herd, and I never see him. Hanging on watching Family Guy in his dank dark apartment, fun stuff!
That's not my name!
LOL! I know I haven't been that bad, yet I have wasted my share of time "what if-ing". It does look a little silly put this way!
Nicely illustrated, keep it up!
Fantastic Article
Great story and lots of word pictures Thanks for sharing Truly Judy Good
Yes Bruce
At times we all have a bit of Norm in us.But what ever the decision, life will go on no matter what....May as well enjoy
We Have To Outwit Our Ghost Form The Past !
These ghost are called fear, and fear is something that you have to work on, and the Best way that I know how to overcome your fears is to face them head on, and to know and understand that if we don't overcome them they will overcome us.
Living In The Now
Hi Zelphina,
What a great post. As a matter of fact, I do know "Norm". He was hanging around me for many years. Then about two or three years ago I heard about "Mentoring For Free" with Michael and Linda Dlouhy. Although I haven't been 100 percent up to the 30 day mental cleanse, I have pretty much gotten rid of "Norm".
Living each day as it comes is by far better than trying to live a day and a week and a month all-together as if there were no tomorrow.
Thank you for these words of wisdom and keep up the good work that you and all the "Mentoring For Free" folks do.
May God bless you and all your family and friends.
