Started by former jet fighter pilot Lieutenant Colonel Albert J Amatuzio, Amsoil was established in 1972. Amsoil launched the first synthetic motor oil in the world to meet all the requirements of API. Based on his vast experience in dealing with synthetic oils used in the aerospace industry, Amatuzio invented an oil which can reduce friction, function properly at high temperature, and withstand extended engine operation.
AMSOIL 10W-40 was Amsoil's first product, and it now manufacturers motor oils, chaincase lubricants, greases, gear lubes, compressor and hydraulic oils, filters and suspension fluids for shocks. Amsoil products are used by truck owners, motorcyclists, and automobile owners, as well as in watercraft and snowmobiles.
According to the Amsoil website there are more than 90,000 distributors worldwide.
