Global Domains International, Inc or GDI was founded in 1999 by Michael Starr and Alan Ezeir. The company was granted permission to be the exclusive seller of .WS (Website) domain extensions. The company uses a multilevel marketing system to sell domain names to the internet market. The company relies heavily on members referring others into the program. For $10 per month, members receive a complete domain package which includes a turnkey website, hosting, 10 email addresses, URL forwarding and a video presentation to show potential affiliates. Commissions are paid on the number of people referred tothe program.
Starr and Ezeir developed the idea of GDI during the dot com explosion of the 1990s. Recognizing that the .COM extension availability was rapidly declining, they explored other possible extensions that could be used as a foundation for their business. They settled on the .WS extension, (Web Site) which had been set aside for the Nation of Samoa (WS). After negotiating with the king of Samoa, they earned the right to become the exclusive reseller of the domain extension.

The company sells domain names ending with the .WS extension,claiming that because the .COM extension supply is dwindling .WS will be equally as popular because it is easy to remember. The second product offered is affiliate membership. For $10 per month, members receive a fully functioning website be used to enroll others in the opportunity. Affiliates earn $1.00 per referral.
