Ferny

I posted in another area this morning trying to say the same thing but you did it so much better. I hope people will start listening especially those new to BN. I hope coming from you that more people will listen and head your advise.

Thanks
Nikki

Just wanted to add my half penny worth... what a knock out post :-)
The more I read here the more I like it. It's so refreshing to find not only an incredibly useful and powerful resource in this community, but also the training and leadership to go with it.

Hey Ferny,

I'm sorry, I'm just a complete retard. I shouldn't even belong here in the Better Networker Community. PLEASE ban my profile. Pretty please?

I just joined the group. I really like the fact of setting ground roles; they're straight up, no excuses to be misunderstood. You know where you stand right from the start. I do agree post vs friends list may not suggest bad new. Some individuals may be very selective on accepting request. Great Post.

#1. Don't smell of pork products, namely SPAM.

#2. If you are a wart on the ass of America, cover yourself with Preparation H because you are too close to the hole!

Portia, wake up, girl! Take a look at the last post. It's dated 2-16-09.

If you're trying to wake up everyone to join your YTB travel business and lose a ton of money in the process, being that it is an illegal ponzi scheme being investigated by the California DA, I suggest you go somewhere other than Better Networker. SPAM is not appreciated.

Outstanding post, Ferny!

Unfortunately, there are people out there who are selling machine guns to children - giving them powerful tools and mechanical "strategies" but not teaching them how to use them responsibly. The phenomenon certainly isn't unique to this community - it occurs sooner or later wherever there's a large enough congregation of people focused on "internet business."

The best thing those of us who know better can do is to show by example how to do things the right way, and to let the chips fall where they may. The "drive-by" spammers will leave soon enough when they realize their "mechanical" processes don't really work very well here. My concern - as is yours - is the overall reputation of the community at large.

I don't really go much by the "guru point" system here. My purpose here goes far beyond the accumulation of points in some arbitrary system. As is the case in marketing situations, you can only automate so much. If you base your sales system only on "mechanical" methods and techniques, you'll always find yourself "tweaking" and "upgrading" those mechanical systems to adapt to the quick "lane-changes" that real people often take - especially on the internet.

You're spot-on about providing benefit. That's how success happens - by enriching and enhancing the lives of others in some way. It doesn't always take the form of finances - sometimes it can just be a gentle metaphorical hand on the shoulder and a whispered "we'll work this out - now let's get to work."

I'm amazed at how far things have progressed in our community since I first spoke with Mike on a conference call back in 2005 - although on second thought, I'm not so much as amazed as reaffirmed. What Mike told us back then reinforced much of what I had already known about marketing, and then showed us how to adapt it to the internet. There are still plenty of fortunes to be made by providing people with a hole. (Readers will have to get hold of a copy of Magnetic Sponsoring to understand that reference.)

It's great to see leaders of the caliber such as we have in our midst, and I'm proud to be a member of this fine community.
