Another thing that popped up several times was "position yourself as an expert" by "creating" value. hmm. I'm pretty sure that means lie. Better advise would have been "become" an expert and "provide" value.

Interesting take a a couple of big buzz words in the industry, Andrea.

I think if you follow the teachings of those that really apply attraction marketing, they are communicating that very take on things....

They teach the principles of of Be, Do, Have.....

Not Pretend, Lie, Coax.... (which unfortunately is what people sometimes implement in their marketing)

:-)

Good Job recognizing the difference!

Thanks for your reply, James.

I have spoken with Linda Cromar, since my first post and have been much heartened by her approach to things. (Listen up! fellow newbies, if you are reading this, she has good stuff.) All of you who have replied have been very helpful and encouraging, and I really appreciate it.

I'm not a newbie Andrea Thornton, but I can tell you that you have the power to avoid all of this and here is how:

As a newbie you must create your own product as quickly as you possible because your unique value is much more appreciated than a peddled affiliate product. You can easily create a product be simply asking yourself what are the struggling the most at in your network marketing business and research the answer yourself.

You will go on a unique journey and if you document each step you will have the material to create you product. Then just write a sales letter that basically says hey my name is Andrea Thornton and I am this type of person. You may be wondering how you can finally stop searching for that almost impossible to find secret, I one day got fed up looking around the internet and I did something about it. Than go into what you did, show your documented proof, and introduce your product solution. Introducing Not another guru flip the switch secret, but the magic secret eraser flashlight product thingy.

2 years went into research and development and I spent $120 testing my ad spots. Inside of the secret killer thing you will learn:

Video 1: There is no secret on the internet

Video 2: How to do this, that, and the third.

Video 3: The finally steps to the blueprint.

This product package is the comprehensive solution for problem, problem, problem,

but waits there more, along with your purchase you get these super cool free bonuses:

Bonus 1: S0mething extremely unique EX: How My kids inspired me to push through and really do network marketing. (these are the desires people look for)

Bonus 2: You get it

Bonus 3: if you got it

You won't find anything else like this on the internet and you can have the risk free offer of...

Then make your offer irresistible. The easiest thing to do is a money back guarantee, or $1 trail. Just make the entry fee easy to get involved in. Then up-sell based on commitment.

Honestly, Justin

I don't if that really is the first thing a newbie should do...
I know that it's important for a long term sustainable business,
especially on the Internet, but I think all the time investment in
creating a product to sell online
might be better spent building the business first.

I think having a person tackle product creation
before they even learn how to use the Internet as a tool
for lead generation (that's all it is), then you might be setting
them up for frustration.

Certainly would appreciate feedback on that...

James,

I was thinking oh sn@p! I just signed up for twitter yesterday, I need to invent something?

I am working on a "survival kit" though, if you will. Not of things I have created, but directions to helpful and not very expensive information, sort of a crash-helmet and bug-spray site. Does that count?

Hello,

The word 'secret' is used a lot and people buy into it because they think they're getting something that the others aren't. Simply put there's no 'secret', but it sounds good. A good mentor who's successful and willing to give you the tools and information they have is what its all about.

If you trust what you see and are committed to follow their system you won't need to look for some 'secret' from someone who's probably charging so much money you probably couldn't afford it or most likely wouldn't want to pay it. Whether you believe the following statement or not it's not a bad place to start.

"If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved
the results you want and copy what they do and you'll achieve
the same results."

When someone new to MLM or Network Marketing hears or see a presentation, you’ll get those people that get really excited over the sweet deal. Other people don’t believe it’s possible, but I will talk about the person that waits no longer than week to get in the opportunity... http://socialmediabar.com/expectations-in-network-marketing

This person gets in, may or may not get a call from their sponsor. If they don’t get that call, they will either click-click-click around until they finally see what to do, or this person will continue to call their sponsor asking for their help. If they do get a call from their sponsor, they will get confirmation that it’s all real.
Learn how you can generate serious MLM leads and actually make money with your MLM business. You want laser target leads? I'll show you exactly how.

Well we all have to start some where. I'm pretty new myself but I stay persistent and consistent. I was lucky enough to have found a few great mentors to help me along the way. Good Luck!

I'm a little late to this thread, but I wanted to chime in here.
The previous post on 'fishing' is 100% correct. I understand the frustration, I feel it still sometimes too.
No matter the course, ebook, video, or whatever a 'guru' puts out there - they never seem to tell me what I feel I need!
See, it's all in the brain. There are those in school who could be given the overarching concepts, and put them together in new ways.
Others need to be shown step-by-step how to do it as well as the theory, and then can take it and run with it.
I'm strongly the 2nd type.
Telling me general statements like "connect more", or "it's a relationship business" and "give more value" do NOTHING for me.
Show me what you did exactly and I can take it, learn, and modify to grow.

There's one major problem here - no one who's successful will disagree the key, the 'secret' (if you will) to network marketing success is your Personal Development - from your belief to your skills.

Consider those who've been successful in MLM for years or decades! They started with cold calls, flyers, drop cards, ads, and bumping into people. They succeeded because of their personal development and honing their skills.
They transferred that when the internet came roaring in.
No one showed them that one 'secret' system to online success - they knew the tools and tactics to succeed whatever the medium.

That's why we never seem to get ALL we need in these trainings and courses! It's not about exactly how your landing page looks, or exactly what your autoresponder says.
It's about growing to learn what motivates people and how that can translate to any medium available at the time.
