I had to think about this again. Are your children going to college. YES!
I am building my MLM business now and for the future. There are others out there who just need my help in getting a start in life. My input, my encouragement and my financial help will be able to send a deserving person to further their education.
Building a MLM business is great if you can give back to your community in anyway possible. You can be a great value to the community. But if we sit on our hands and do nothing, then nothing will happen. Nothing will change in the lives of other people. We will not influence any one to achieve their goals in life.
In the movie, 'Spiderman', 'with great power comes great responsiblity'.
We have a lot of power with the resources of our MLM business. That brings great responsibly to improve our community and someone lives. Maybe sending another child to college or helping someone along the way.
The rewards will come back to you many times over!

College is indeed what you make of it. There are people out there who get degrees from Ivy League schools and are now working minimum wage. There are also those out there who never even went to college and are incredibly successful.

I believe that it is up to each individual to make the most out of the opportunities for learning that are afforded them. Gone are the days when just because you have a degree you will get a good job. With the government making it so easy to get money a college degree is becoming more devalued everyday.

My wife and I are both were both taught that you get a degree, get a job, work your butt off and the company will take care of you. Not so much. We are just now waking up from decades of programming, leaving the matrix and becoming entrepreneurs. The worst part is we see our children taking the same path we did. They assume that the future will be like the past. Wrong.

What we all strive for is to be successful. That definition is very different for everyone. What I see as the common theme here, is that we all want everybody to be happy in what they are doing. No judgement of others, no egos, just everyone doing the the best at what they love.

What I believe we should all do as entrepreneurs is to keep doing what we love and teach others to do the same without making anyone feel guilty or less of a person for doing something different.

Have you ever noticed a person who only has less than a high school education, a person with a high school diploma, and a college graduate? Some people with less than a high school education still thinks like a person with less than a high school education. Some are still successful, many are not.
The ones with a high school diploma thinks a little further than his counterparts. He thinks like a person with a high school education. Some are successful, many are not, but think more than most.
The college educated person thinks more worldly and mostly likely to succeed better than most.
The college educated person is trained to think more and differently and the results will be better when he starts a project.
Having your children continue on through college will better prepare them for the future. They will have the advanced education to cope with in today's society.

This link( http://inflation.us/blog/2011/01/colleg ... t-in-2011/ ) is to an article by The National Inflation Association about the college bubble. Total student loan debt now exceeds total credit card debt in the United States. College tuition is one of the few things that has increased in this economy. My question is what are you getting for that? Here is a paragraph out of the NIA article.

"All across America, thousands of students are graduating law school each year with $250,000 in debt, but with no jobs at law firms available to them. 15,000 attorney and legal staff jobs have disappeared since 2008, yet 43,000 law degrees are being handed out each year. Law degrees are losing their value faster than the U.S. dollar is losing its purchasing power. Lawyers are non-producing workers that do nothing to create any real wealth for society. The artificially high incomes of lawyers are made possible entirely by inflation, which steals the wealth from hard working goods producing middle-class Americans and transfers it to those who add no real value to society."

I am not against furthering your education. I have a college degree and my wife has a masters. I just believe everyone should be smart about it and don't just get a degree for the sake of getting a degree. The money you would have spent on a college degree can be better invested elsewhere.

I agree with you, Sam. There are several people with law degrees. They are also able to think elsewhere to attain their goals. There are people with law degrees that are teachers. They can encourage others to continue their education because of what they can accomplish.
There are also others who get into law enforcement field. They will rise up faster because of these trained skills to go into upper law enforcement management and chiefs of major city police departments.
People who continue through college fare much better in life and do think worldly and would go further into a business.
There are also some unemployed people with law degrees. But given the chance, being employed, they will have a better chance for a better success rate than most.
The saying goes, 'we have done so much with so little, for so long, that we can do anything with nothing.'
Yes, your children will go to college. We prepare them to face their future with bright optimism for the challenges for today's society.

I'm glad to see that this topic has been revived :D With a new child on the way, this has been a topic that has come up in conversation for my family.

I believe that life is about options. College is going to be an option for our child as it should be. College has some major pros and some cons as well but it is hard to put a pricetag on the social development that kids get in college. Especially those raunchy, drunken parties! :)

In all seriousness, our children will be taught that there are many important professions out there and the key is to not be solely dependent on one stream of income. They key is to follow your passions and find ways to make the most out of what God has given you.
