Better late than never.

Postby Chris Tryon on Fri Jan 08, 2010 7:56 pm

Better late than never.

The number one thing everyone needs to have before they can be taken seriously as an internet entrepreneur is a self-hosted website.

So, since my husband, Allan and I want to be taken seriously in this business, we decided to DO just that. I came to this site to research a few articles and blogs about various sites to help us do that. YOU came to the rescue. Thank you for your input. Our self-hosted website should be up and running by this time tomorrow. We expect it to be a work in progress.

We already have our business domain hosted with a company that we are not very happy with, but we are stuck with it for another year and a half, so we will have to make the best of it.

Thank you for your help.

That's what happens when I didn't do my homework first. I followed the crowd and got taken. Fortunately it was not a huge investment. Thank you for your support.

Chris you might want to get a new domain (godaddy.com is a good place) and start your site with complete control over it. Register your domain for 5 years so you demonstrate stability in google's evaluation. Where are you hosting? Hostgator is good.

No offense, godaddy is the one I had problems with. I am now with hostgator. A very good friend and business partner of mine absolutely loves them. Being technologically challenged, I still have a little bit of a learning curve to experiment with.

Thanks for the advice.
