I have started a group and can't figure out how to use the "invite friends".
It asks for username or email of friends.
This is not the same as a friends name as putting in a name does not work.
Can you advise on how to invite my friends to my group?

Steven, It appears that the website uses two different user names. One is for the forums and one is for the main better networker site.

Your name displays as Steven Gans in the forum but that name doesn't work for the invite. It looks like that your user name for the main site is Steveg77.

It took a little testing to see this and this is an issue that needs to be submitted to the support team to fix. There is no easy way to locate these correct user names to use the invite feature. I'll get something submitted to them. Thanks, Kerry

Hello Steve, One way was to go to the forums and click the quote tag in one of the user's postings...when the text editor opens you will see Quote="???????" that is the user name that appears to work with the invite feature.

Another way is to go to your connections and select the person and then press the "send private message" and when that loads the user name will be displayed in the To: field of that text editor. You can just copy the username from that field and then paste it in the invite friends feature of your group. Hope this helps. Kerry

Betternetworker Support has sent this issue / request to the development team to see if there is other options available to make inviting friends to a group easier, without the risk of someone randomly selecting other members from a searchable or drop down list.

Similar to what Kerry mentioned - another option is to just send a private message to your friend / connection with a note similar to this:

"Just thought you might be interested in the following my group on betternetworker.com, if you are be sure to click on the join option."

Follow that note up with the URL to your specific group on betternetworker.com
