Marketing your business online is quite different from marketing offline. In the offline world you is all about location! location! location!
In online world is all about Information more information and more information.
People go online for one major reasons: to look for solutions to their problems or know more about a particular subject. They dont know that you exist. With the nillions of websites, blogs spring up everyday, the best way to market your business is to give quality information or content. Content is that search engine friendly and people friendly.
In the online world " Content is King"

Wow.....some great advice you have gotten already! The main thing is that you be as personal as possible. It is much better to promote with your own capture pages(ie. YOUR picture, YOUR email, YOUR videos, YOUR original content). The more original you are the more you are gonna stand out from the crowd....not to mention, all of the search engines hate replicated content and will crawl right around it. People are a lot quicker to trust you and will want to follow you if they feel like they know you and can put a face with the name.
Best of luck

The Best Advice I ever got on Line was a Free Ebook I spent 1000's on coaches Mentors Systems. But none were as Brilliant as the info I recieved for Free. I can Sleep at night and Build my Business. And have fun doing it all on LINE. But believe me No one Else will tell you this info. Even if you pay them. If you want that info you will have to get the book I am not going to write it all right here.

WOW! Richard this is some AWESOME ADVICE!
NEWBIES PRINT THIS OUT AND FOLLOW!
I would expand to one of your points..
Make sure you have your own "Self Hosted Website" (your domain and web hosting server). I will start a new post going into more detail but having your own site is KEY!
Think about it...
If your linking articles, twitter/facebook posts, videos, etc. directly to your companys Lead Capture Page you are setting yourself up for disaster.
Here's why...
SEO is all about "link building" and if you build 1000's of links over the next year to your companies site and then decide to switch companies... YOU LEAVE ALL YOUR HARD WORK BEHIND!
However, if you have a "YOU, INC BLOG" now you can switch companies and all you have to do is change a banner or a link on your site BUT you keep your rankings, traffic and can continue to build your empire.
This is why you will also want a "domain" that is generic, in the sense that you can change companies and it wont make a difference. Again this is another reason for building the "You, INC" like mentioned in a previous
post.
But Richard has given you a awesome Step-by-Step that literally is fool-proof. And is the same info you will get from buying a $5k course... lol
Hope this helps,
Kevin

Describe in detail, exactly what you want your business to look like in 18 months.
Reverse engineer exactly what it will take to accomplish that - Be Specific!
Identify quarterly milestones - 3mo, 6mo, 9mo, 12mo, 15mo, 18mo and what you will achieve by that time.
Find three strategies (daily action items) that you can allocate 4 hours per day to and complete them every day.
Anyone that is unable to allocate at least 20 hours per week to building their business should not expect any significant results. These daily action items should meet the needs of the areas you identified for your milestones. Spending 3 hours a day organizing your office and 1 hour on Facebook won't cut it. Each action should accomplish something that moves you closer to completing each milestone. ie.. GET PAID!
Pick a start date for your plan - like yesterday would be a good place to start - and do those action items every single day, without fail. Even if you have to work from 10pm-2am 7 days a week - JUST DO IT!
Analyze your results as you reach each milestone. This is important! Don't ever waste time analyzing your results until you have results to analyze. By the time you hit your first milestone at 3 months you should have some pretty good data to look at. Make necessary adjustments and keep going. Until then, keep your head down and work your butt off to reach the milestone.
I can't stress this enough - IF you want real results - You Must Be Relentless!
As you begin to see results you should find that the time it takes to get your tasks completed for each of the 3 strategies decreases. Either continue to do them yourself, focusing on doing them faster or outsource some of the tasks. What you are aiming for here is freeing up about an hour of your 4 hour workload to use for followup with leads, customers and team members.
By the time you hit the 9 month milestone you'll probably need to outsource 90%, in order to use most of your time for followup.
Here's an example of daily action steps you can do:
Youtube: (45 min) create 1 video, add 40-50 friends, comment on 5-10 videos.
Blog: (30 mins) Write a post about your video, embed your Youtube video into the post, convert that post into an article, implement as part of your Article strategy.
Articles: (1 hour) write 3-5 articles, submit to top article sites.
FaceBook: (30 min) add 30-40 friends, comment on 5-10 friends.
BackLinks: (1 hour) 30-40 to money site, 15-20 to Twitter, Myspace, Squidoo, Forum profiles, etc.
Forums: (30 mins) Find 3-4 forums that fit your niche market, reply to 2 threads on ea., start 2 new threads on ea.
Twitter: (30 min) add 100 friends, Tweet 7-10x throughout the day (Tweet about & link to, everything you did that day - your articles, blog post, Myspace blog, invite to connect on Facebook, etc.)
Pick and choose what best fits your personality.
If you don't like Facebook use Myspace. If you like LinkedIn, use that. My strong recommendation is that you have a cycle that looks something like this no matter which web 2.0 properties and media outlets you choose.

Re: What is your best advice on Marketing your Business online?
My Advice To The Beginner
To market a business online now is very different than when I first bought MLM Traffic Formula - the first one. I learned sooo much back then but it wasn't easy. Now it's much easier to be a beginner and get results!
First, You Need A Blog
Blog Pages - the tabs at the top - should be about the broad topics of your blog. Not everyone agrees with me but here's my advice... Start a blog with just three pages, something as simple as My SEO Blog
1 - Home
2 - SEO 1.0
3 - SEO 2.0
or My Let's Get Organized Blog
1 - Home
2 - Personal Life
3 - Professional Life
You get the idea. Next, Build 3 Blog Sections related to each of the 3 pages (the sections would show up in the sidebar)
About Me
About SEO
About Your Free Report
SEO 1.0 Using Keywords
SEO 1.0 Using Links
SEO 1.0 Using Bold Text
SEO 2.0 Using Squidoo
SEO 2.0 Using Videos
SEO 2.0 Using Forums
Now write 5 posts for each section (the title of the posts would show up under each section)
SEO 1.0 Using Keywords
1 - How To Do Keyword Research
2 - What Are Money Keywords?
3 - Advantages of the Longtail Keyword Phrase
4- etc. until now you have 5 articles or posts on keywords, 5 on links, 5 on bold text, 5 on Squidoo, etc. adding up to 45 posts and 3 static pages - Home, SEO 1.0, SEO 2.0
Link To Your Static Pages - the three tabs at the top.
The posts should link to the relevant static page, either to the home page, SEO 1.0 page or the SEO 2.0 page. When you link to these pages, use your keywords for the anchor text - the word you hyperlink. Don't hyperlink to words like "click here." That's not a keyword phrase. No one types that in to search google, right?
Now you have content that is optimized for the search engines. Using this silo structuring, it's easy for the robots to get a clear picture of your blogs theme and they will reward you by putting one of your static 3 pages on page 1 in record time. Then you can begin to market your business, adding sales funnels to your blog in the form of capture pages and sales letters or shopping carts.

I'll be brief. Focus on 1-3 sites at a time. Master them. Learn copywriting skills. Be patient. Be consistent and persistent with your marketing. Study, take action and don't quit.

Re: What is your best advice on Marketing your Business online?
Lots of great advice on this subject. I would add that you give out a free product or tool of some kind. People are looking for free information. If you give them the free information, they will come back to see what else you have to give them. Just remember that you need to build a relationship with them first. Make sure the ebook you give out has good content in it. Don't put in a bunch of nonsense that isn't usefull.

Re: What is your best advice on Marketing your Business online?
The single best way to market your business is to market yourself, your customers will naturally feel drawn to your business.
One of the best ways to add 'value' to yourself or simply to entice and attract peopel to your business is to firstly attract people to you by becoming INTERESTING.
As a matter of fact, become SO interesting that people can't wait to read your blog or check out your website everyday to see what you're doing.
The genuine way of becoming interesting is to become aligned with your true self.
When you start living life according to your vision and become your true self you develop this pull about you that fascinates people and draws them to you.
People want to know what it is about you thats different, why you do everything with such ease and success and why your life lacks resistance.
People notice genuine character, and I think this is the fastest route to self-growth and expansion, being true to your self.
Your business then, is an extension of yourself.
With lack of resistance, and embodying this sense of 'knowing' people too absorb that vibe you're emitting and instead of feeling convinced of your business' success or of your sales pitch, they too have this sense of knowing that it's the right business venture for themselves.
I think whatever you learn and apply in terms of effective marketing all comes down to this point. Become your true self, it creates interest and draws people to you and by extension your business.
And most important, theres nothing 'spammy' or gimmicky about it, its just true.
