I'm a little lost on how to do this, could you help me out? Alright, so I will create a lead capture page where they will enter their information.

From there, they will be redirected to the product. I guess I'm confused on how to do this with an affiliate product. I want to be able to set up more of a store so people have more options to choose from. How would I create a separate capture page going back to my website anyways?

Theodore, Just a quick tip regarding the capture page/and or form. Right now, you should concentrate on learning the keyword and linking basics I mentioned in my other posting. You need to think this way: You essentially do not have traffic to your site yet...therefore there is no one to capture at this point. I personally wouldn't worry too much about a capture page just yet.

Let's take this step by step and get you set up properly first! Hope this helps. Kerry

Kerry,

I want to personally thank you for your in depth overview of what it is I should concentrate on. I have been diligently studying market research and analyzing who I really want to target. I've come to a conclusion, that is people looking for acne remedies.

I understand how important research is, and finding targeted keywords is crucial to starting a website. So, the reason I figured starting a acne solution website is primarily because I can relate to those people struggling.

This is also a market in which will be prominent for a very long time. People want to find solutions faster and quicker all the time. Many people cannot consult a doctor to be prescribed medication, so therefore finding alternatives to that problem. So, I thought focus around this area.

Daegan smith, a good man indeed said if he had to start over he would focus on “keyword targeted article marketing.” Many other methods as well to be implemented. However would you agree with me?

Funny thing is when I found a product to promote, the long tail keyword I wanted to go after was already taken. A guy wrote an article about getting rid of acne fast, over 60,000 hits in 2 years. I mean that’s good, and im sure his conversions weren’t all that bad either.

I know now, when it comes to focusing on a target, and I mean really focusing on a target, think about what THEY would type and that’s what I found out. That guy must have done well, and I realized targeting that keyword probably would not be a good ideal move on my part now.

After using market samurai and Google keyword tool, I have analyzed keywords (a list of about 30) I want to drill down and start targeting and testing. From there I will see. I would love to share with you these keywords in a a (PM) if you don’t mind just to see if you think this would be ideal. However I do understand that nobody can really tell, its all up to you to test the market out to see if its pulling in results or not.

Wow, this is long but please add on. Thanks everyone for posting and hopefully this will keep on going.

OH! and should I make sure to add at least some products to my page sooner than later? I will be using amazon, clickbank, cj and researching some other affiliates as well. I suppose i want to build basically a database listing of many different products.

I really want to be able to connect with people also. I want to have a separate page with videos and writing pretty much for support for people who have emotional problems dealing with acne.

Acne remedies sounds logical...Lots of variations of that keyword to get too.

Excellent. You can use your experiences to help inform people!

I would definitely use article marketing as one way to build links and exposure for your site. I personally would use manual submission to keyword relevant sites and keep my content unique. You may be surprised what a mere handful of properly targeted articles with optimized anchor text can do for you.

Excellent...you have done your research! :) :) :) Feel free to send those keywords to me. As for testing the site's performance, I would recommend Google analytics and also Google webmaster tools. These can provide valuable feedback that will let you optimize your site easier.

Once you start to get some articles out there and start sending traffic via some of the methods you spoke of, then you can start concentrating on having products to sell. I would personally want to have Google analytics set up to track the outbound links to your affiliate links and other sites, so you can see what is happening with those particular links.

I really want to be able to connect with people also. I want to have a separate page with videos and writing pretty much for support for people who have emotional problems dealing with acne.

Connecting with people is not only a great idea, but also essential. You will want to build relationships with your customers and keep them engaged in your content. Social Media Marketing can help you do this. Use your site to reach out to people and interact...let them see that a live person is there for them and replying to their comments, questions and concerns.

Kudos to you for doing your research first :) :) :) :) :) Kerry

Why not do both? If you are using forum-marketing, create a signature with the products-page link. (Make sure it's an original domain-name, not the company's website.) Then, use safe-lists or traffic exchanges or write articles about your products, and use the other link...the landing page. Again, you will have to be the owner of the website if you are going to use the link in your Bio for Article-Marketing. For forum-marketing or Article-marketing, you can also create a blog, and then you won't have to purchase a domain name if you use Google Blogger or Wordpress Blogger. Then put a link to both your landing page and product page on your blog.

If you are using traffic exchanges or safe-lists, the company's website will be fine.

You should look into PPC and other paid-forms of advertising if you have a budget.

Don't limit yourself to any one form of advertising. The internet is very competitive, so pull out all the stops!

Theodore,

I agree with the things Kelly said about keywords in every respect. If your domain, and site pages are not optimized for keywrods that represent real buyers your efforts will not produce much.

That said let me go back to your original design question so everyone that has the same question may find some good ideas.

Assuming you have good keywords, keyword optimized your posts and have begun to build backlinks to get page rank the design issues have these pros and cons.

If you create a blog you have the opportunity to give either a personal testimonial or a strong recommendation BEFORE you send the customer to the affiliate link. This intermediate position is what gives the affiliate value. A simple affliiate site could be one page with a strong recommendation for a product and a link to the products page with your affiliate link.

In a more general sense you can build your blog as I see you have and make posts in the blog that are either recommendations or testimonials and then put your affiliate link at the bottom of the post. That post must be keyword optimized for the particular search term it is supporting. It is also possible here to put a form to capture their email address to build your own list before you send then to the affiliate link. This allows you to cummunicate with them by email and continue to build a relationship with them.

This makes your post a Landing page technically but it is branded as you.

These two options can be done inside wordpress using posts, forms, and affiliate links and require very little technical knowledge outside of using wordpress and an autoresponder.

In a more sophisticated site you can have Langing Pages that are inside your domain but not part of the wordpress blog structure and these can be found by inbound links but not from the Navigation on the blog. In this way the landing page will look like many you have seen that are not branded but seem to be stand alone. You will have to be able to create HTML pages and FTP them to your site to do this.

These three layers get more sophisticated but also require additional skills. I specialize in building all three types for clients and and have experience in all three structures. I would get to then in order if I were you and move to the next level only after you are getting success on the lower level you started with.

If you want to go to the third option right away then get some technical support help and go for it.

I think acne medication is a great product. Interested myself. I may sign up to your list. One thing that occurs to me is that you want to get some testimonials. I would ask the company. Before and after pictures would be good too. Good luck :-)

Hey Theodore,

I would definitley look to build a list in that market, you can then offer all sorts of free info and stuff and then direct them from the list to wherever you want them to go e,g. main website, sales page etc..

So send them to the landing page and get them to opt in by offering something cool for name and email, e.g a free sample of the product.

Great way to go about this would be to create videos correctly keyworded and optimised for your product, uploaded to youtube and then directing them to your landing page with strong call to action. E.G for more info on .... go to .....

Keywords help search engines to categorize your site and allows people to find your pages more quickly. However, most search engines have limits as to how many meta keywords are viewed. It is a good idea to review your keywords and make sure that they are as concise and specific as possible.
